Why not 10 years ago, why not 15 years ago or 5 or 50?
Why was London bombed now?
Cause and effect? The war on terror created more terror?
Discuss.

Re: Why now?
I refuse to discuss this.

Re: Why now?
My history professor once said in class "what U.S does outside its borders has long term consequences, what we see today is a result of something we did in the past"... it was quite brave of him to say that infront of a class of 99 rednecks (excluding me). I guess the same is true for London. Did u guys do something wrong in the past?
Re: Why now?
^ Maybe it should be looked at on a bigger scale. Not just London, but non-muslim countries as a whole, perhaps? ![]()
Re: Why now?
NO NO NO ...Londoners have NEVER done anything wrong in the past...
What a ridiculous thing to suggest!
Mind you, there was an episode in the 1960's when they sent their hippies to India
Re: Why now?
Thap Bhaijaan, so are you convinced that people effected by the war on terror did the London Bombing?
Re: Why now?
Someone was jealous they won the bid for the olympics...
Re: Why now?
ahmadjee,
This was a discussion on why the bombings happened now and not some time in the past. The initial invitation further asked the discussion to be based around the idea of cause and effect and whether the war on terror increases the chances of such attacks or reduces them?
After all if we're to support a war on terror surely we should expect less of such instances. Is it pure coincidence that attacks on westerners increase (Bali, Madrid, Beslan, London) since the war on terror was declared?
Re: Why now?
9/11 changeed the world forever. I know of many a young British Muslim that watched the story unfold, and looked at the attackers as heroes. They saw how a handful of men had changed the world forever, and brought the worlds most powerful country to its knees. They wanted a piece of that heroism ... and the reward of heaven aint bad either.
I really don't think the world will ever be the same again.
Re: Why now?
Wise man…
Reminds me of a saying which can be used in this context.
“If you’re afraid of the wolves, keep out of the woods” - Tаварищ Сталин
Re: Why now?
Sadi, what did you feel watching 9-11 unfold?
Re: Why now?
Yup, it sure did change everything. Sadi, what do you think about the use of depleted uranium as a weapon? Also do opine about the drop of atomic bomb on innocent civilians? Explain further how the world changed then as compared to 9/11
Thank you
Re: Why now?
9/11 or the aftermath? Do you think bombing countries in the Middle and Far east assuaged further reprisals, increased the chances of more attacks, or had no affect at all? Surely only the former would justify the actions taken immediately after 9/11.
Re: Why now?
London was bombed now because the deprave terrorists decided it was time to gain salvation. Nothing new...they have been doing it since before 9/11. Kenya/tanzania, pakistan on a weekly basis. Same mentality...geography is not a limiting factor for this mindset. Frm Philippines to the US...it is the same people. All these diffferent countries and people can't be wrong.
Re: Why now?
Funguy, I thought the images were awesome. I remember when I first heard about what had happened, a friend text me to tell me. At that point, I didnt even know what teh WTC were, so I just carried on shopping. I then went to work, and still didn't see what all the fuss was about. It's only when I got home at 11 pm that night and saw the images on telly that I realised how my life, as s Muslim, would never be the same again. There really is only one word that can be used to describe those images ... awesome.
I'm sure if I was a lost British Paki that felt that his life was going nowhere, I would have wnated a piece of that action too. Thankfully, I'm not.
Re: Why now?
