Muslims invented a single item since five centuries?
We claim that today’s advancement in science and technology is due to the works of Muslim scientists. So what happened that we stopped producing such people and labelled as terrorists now?
As per western media’s terminology and propaganda, ‘Not all the Muslims are terrorists, but all the terrorists are Muslims’.

i think the major reason was that in the early days of science the door to discoveries were wide open and anyone who worked hard enough got the results...now, in the present time, every field is so saturated that it requires a lot of resources to carry out research which we lack in the Muslim world...the Muslim Rulers may be rich but they are the most jaahils as well and they got no interest in science N technology other than their own aiyaashiyaaN...
...however, where ever such fundings are available [mostly in western coun tries] Muslim scientists are doing pretty well...they did NOT invent big but yes they have contributed towards discoveries...these days, discovery is a team work and NOT a one-man's show as it used to be like inventing a light bulb!
Well I think lack of opportunity and resources and thanks to corrupt politicians, take example of dr Abdul Qadair he said he can make light tht enough tht Pakistan can supply to other countries as well but thnkx to our government v don't know whether he would or not But he wasn't give any chance :(

aapkaa kia Khayaal hai?
I agree that government patronage plays a role here, but Muslim world produced scientists even during the Abbasid period (Abbasid were also infamous for their ayyashi) and even Spain produced great scholars during unstable periods.
So may be we can't blame totally government for not supporting these activities. How do you see role of clergy in this?
Dar Ul Salaam has now become the West unfortunately.... and the Muslim world is the Dar ul Harb.
Only people who got the peace and security can develope things to help everyday lives.
Primitive people or those in a state of constant war will only create more means for destruction, they have a hard time staying alive, inventing something becomes very difficuilt unless it helps kill the enemy and relive the immediate pressure on survival.
That said the world could actually do with a few less inventions in my opinion. The last time I was in a mall somebody was telling me of self stirring mugs... I mean that has gotta be the epitome of modern human lazyness. People like me would much rather struggle through harder times and be glad that one knows what its like to feel good for the fact your "alive".
In society today one like me feels too enslaved by people and thier products and services... hence why the near constant need to re-connect with the wild side of things.
I agree that for contributing scientific inventions, people need sense of security and today Muslims are not secure in that sense, but the situation was not always that worst for Muslims during last 5 centuries. They were ruling India, Iran and above all Sultant e Usmania was strong, but we don't see a major contribution from Muslims in the field of science and technology during that period.
I again repeat my question, can't we held responsible Muslim clergy for this to an extent?
^ Yes but to an extent Islam has never sanctioned any clergy whatsoever.
Anyway I think its wrong to say that Muslims did not make any inventions at all... rather any inventions were ignored nay suppresed by various ways, and sometimes fate has a cruel hand in things too. For example one technology may not be better than another but becuase it can be mass produced it wins the race... who knows how many Muslim inventions fell by the wayside due to such bad luck.
But that was not the situation from beginning. I want to know when, why and how these things became valueless for Muslims, because as far as I know Islamic scripture always encouraged research.

Any instance you remember where invention by a Muslim faced such situation?
In the West Congreve takes all the credit but he only just copied his rockets from those of Indian models taken in Seringapatam. (Shrirangapatna)
Likewise Edward Jenner seems to take the credit for Immunisation but Turkish soldiers were the first to use immune vaccines against disease.
Again in the West theres the widely held belief that firearms won them all thier wars but in reality firearms were second best to bows right up till the 19th century. Meanwhile Muslims possesed firearms before that time but thought them useless for mobile combat.
Muslim engineers had created thousands of different mechanical aids to distribute water over the land... these irrigation systems were destroyed in colonial wars and they were never repaired leading to desertification. Since many people were massacred there was no way anyone could have repaired such complex machines and so widespread fammine caused more problems.

So can we claim that hurdle in scientific contribution resulted due to outside invaders like Mongols than the internal factors?
Well all the above inventions happened in the last 200 or 300 years... the Mongols stopped being a major power 700 years ago and the Mughals after Akbar were a spent force pretty much.

But again we don't see much contribution from Irnai Safvids in the field of technology IMO
the west didnt take the clear lead until post-renaissance. the church's idiotic clutch upon what could be called science, and its rigid ideas of morality in general had to be overthrown. the new way of learning, humanism vs. the old scholastic way was a huge difference. there was reformation and counter-reformation in the church, ultimately diminishing its influence in the daily life of people.
today, muslims are the most religious people in the world. they give a lot of emphasis on scripture, and tend to look back centuries ago for the perfect way of doing everything. this isn't what encourages scientific discoveries.

But queer Muslims produced big names in science when they followed Islam in real sense. As I earlier mentioned, Quran encourages at many places for thinking over the creations at many places. I don't think believing and following scripture is the hurdle in technological contribution of Muslims
