When Yousaf Youhanna reverted he changed his name from yousaf youhanna to Muhammad yousaf-fine-
my point is why not Muhammad yousaf youhanna- Youhanna is a beautifull name and then islamic personalities in past had thier name- In *fatuhu ush sham * by *Allama waqdi * there were two Taba’een by yOuhanna and youqanna-I fail to understand why he did not retained this name–
On the same token- can some one explain to me why dont muslims have Messih as thier last name-Muslims do have MAssih as thier first name so why not as last name-

youhanna, as some historians write was also the name of a prophet of bani israel....
that's Johanna in english....
perhaps the change of the name was only to make it clear that he has now changed....
i dont even see why someone named tony blair shud change his name to anything else if he becomes a muslim....

Hmm honestly i liked his last name too. He should have kept it. Par kher, his name his choice. I dont think people will stop calling him Youhana for a long time coming though.

i agree.. it wasn't like he was Mike Tyson and HAD to be Abdul Aziz to let everyone know.. Youhanna is a perfectly fine name..

his name is Yusuf, i think Youhanna is his father's name....
i think he has only added Muhammad before Yusuf to be known as Muhammad Yusuf instead of simply Yusuf....
dont know for sure....

perhaps cuz maseeh is a title that Allah has chosen specifically for Isa (as) and muslims shud not be using it....
just my own view, i have no idea whether any muslim has ever ben named maseeh or not or whether there is indeed a restriction on using it as a name....
