With the success of The Passion of the Christ, why has nobody seriously considered making a movie about the life of Muhammad (SAW)? The last one made was decades ago. I would imagine it could get an enormous amount of funding for it. Since we dont use images of Prophets, the same thing could be done as was done before, where a “shadow” is presented.
Since Islam and Muslims have catapulted into the public eye recently, dont you think a movie about the Prophet(SAW) would help clear up misconceptions?
Would you support a movie based on the Prophet’s(SAW) life? Would you go and see it? Would you consider acting in it? Thanks.
Making a cinematic movie about early days of Islam is probably not very feasible. Not only they can't show the Prophet of Islam (Peace be upon him), they can't even show his closest companions. "The Message" skirted around this cinematic nightmare by picking Hazrat Hamza (May Allah be Pleased With him) and Hinda as the main characters around which they build the story... but it remains a challange for any script-writer and director. Any other attempt will likely look more like a documentay with narrators, than a movie.

Really... can you be more specific which sects? I was under the impression it is the art work (paintings and other forms) depicting humans and animals is not allowed... not the video or camera photos.
How would you watch news coverage or surveillance camera output?

PakistaniAbroad, I have read that it is allowed by majority sects as long its educational and for dawah purposes. Was reading about it just the other day.
hey i don't know the details. but that's the impression i get when is see a lot of Mullahs with their shalwars in a bunch over pictures and movies and other art forms.. if they'd only be consistent and not come up with these cop outs of 'educational' and 'dawah' purposes..

I heard there was a movie made in America on Islam and the Prophet and it was banned in many Muslim countries. Does anyone know which movie was that?

Good film.
I dont know why it was banned, it never showed prophet or even khalifa (image or audio). The most famous person portrayed by a real actor was Abu Sufyan.
