Hello! It’s India calling for Ireland
DUBLIN: Ireland has a new address in India. High labour costs coupled with unwillingness of the locals to take up low-end jobs have opened up the prospects of foreign multinationals in Ireland outsourcing their work in India along with a large dose of investments.
Information Technology, biotechnology, engineering and financial services are sectors that Irish manufacturers are said to be keen on investing in. World IT giants like Dell, Ericsson, HP and Intel, pharmaceutical giants Novartis, Roche and Genzyme have their base in Ireland, which exports 80 per cent of its manufactured goods.
The Irish engagement with Indian industry and trade will get a boost when Prime Minister Bertie Ahern leads a Trade Mission to India mid-January next at the head of an over 100-member delegation that is expected to include Chief Executives of a number of multinationals.
Officials in Industrial Development Authority, responsible for attracting Foreign Direct Investment, Enterprise Island and Irish Exporters Association say that joint ventures with Indian companies in information and communication technology and pharmaceutical sectors are also not ruled out
First of all, Ireland is not the “manufacturer”, it is a tiny country in the gravy train ultimately coming from the United States of America.
How come an impoverished, politically unstable, terror infested area like Ireland became the hub of technology?
Answer: Irish Immigrants in the US of A.
Ireland has been the place of outsourcing since 1975 when Bharat or China weren’t even on the radar. Why?
Answer: The same, Irish Immigrants in the US of A.
Even now, Irish outsourcers are further outsourcing US business on to Bharati and Filipino companies.
Now back to your question. Why not Pakistan?
Simple reason, Pak immigrants in UK are too busy in Aloo-stores, and suicide bombings. Pak immigrants in US are too low on the management ladder to outsource stuff to Pakistan.
So all you UK settled in UK and US! get out of Arab and Islamic behinds and do something for our country. And don’t use the poor excuse of Pakistan’s political situation. Pakistan is much more stable than the Ireland of 1975.
If you the Pak immigrants move up the management chain, and you believe in Pakistan, there will be outsourcing to our country.
Otherwise forget this and get busy with suicide bombing and anti-US frothing.
Apart from the thread title, this is nothing to do with Pakistan. As a discussion on foreign economic development it is moved to Business and Economics forum.
Political stability is a prime issue. When u say dont talk about political situation in Pakistan you forget that its the sovereignty must be in safe hands & the investment should be safe. Everyone knows what happened in 1998 when Nawaz Government froze the foreign currency accounts. People lost loads of money because of that stupid decision.
I have not read the article but if it has something to do with call centres then India can have em all....
A company I work for we asked one of our customer to call tech support for help and his reply was he don't want to talk to anyone unless its based in North Amerca.
We heard some horror stories from our customers and our company is reversing out sourcing.
