Again it looks like spark created by static electricity created by his clothes resulted in it. Cell phone does not create any kind of spark.

but static current discharges as soon as u come in contact with a nuteral body etc metals. So any static electric should have discharged by his touching the metal stairs while climbing and the opening the lid.
