Why must every show be a copy of another show from the West or India?

And on top of that we are 5 years late. Is there an original idea that Pakistani channels have come up with?

Sitcoms, competition type shows, morning shows, news (style and presentation), reality type shows, music shows, etc etc are just copies of what is or has been shown in the West and India for years.

What is left now is copying some crazy game show from Japan.

Where is the Pakistani innovation?

Edit: I don’t mean copies as in exact copies, but as in copying the style. For example sitcoms and the laugh tracks.

Apart from drama serials and single-episode plays.. almost everything is copied. I'm surprised they havn't hopped-onto the reality show bandwagon... (celeb lifestyles) as yet.. other than that we have it all covered. Laughter challenges, dance shows, singing contests etc..

Well, celeb reality shows like the ones made on Paris Hilton, Kim Kerdashian and Gottis are popular because of the ridiculous things they show. For example, Kim have a Vegas marriage, installing a stripper pole in her bedroom, Paris Hilton trying out new bikinis for her summer vacation, etc. They can't really show ridiculous things on Pakistani TV, so they wont have a lot of material beyond the celebs barking orders at naukars, taking weekend trips to Dubai, and going to the gym.

Pakistani's usually are more interested in finding-out celeb's lives.. play any singer's/model's/actor's day and the entire nation watches. Ek Din Geo Ke Saath was extremely popular.. because it showed the ways of life of celeb's.

Recently Nadia Khan invited the GEO team to film her at home.. and that episode was the most watched.

But those are just one time things. They are showing a day in their life. The shows I mentioned show everything, and to keep things interesting they have to do things normal people don't do.

I doubt anyone wants to keep seeing Nadia doing the same things everyday.

I work in this industry.. it's all about people! :) Make a show on a model's life..even if it's 14 shows. and it'll be an instant hit!

I tell you...Hollywood ,as bollywoodiez are great apers i must admit ...copy hollywood.Then our poor apers copy bollywood...

i dont mind if we r copying bolly or holly...per dhang ki tou ho....for example our prog super karara was just like bolly's laughter challenge...per humara itna bura, no good jokes, judges bhi fazool se like rauf lala and meera JI..overall a very low budget prog

Gina, do they have any 'America's Next Top Model' type shows in Pakistan?

Apart from the competition stuff every week it's really interesting see how all the girls interact with each other and their characters (there's always a b*tch, a shy one etc)..
