Yes there may be individuals who voice their opinion too loud fearing no one could catch them. But it cannot be applied as a general rule. Until they come out of closet, one has to accept them as they say they are.
Don’t know about Japan per se. But from pure psychologic reason, I mentioned that men would not mind women engaged in homosexual activity. Men are more perverted or openly perverted than women. 
A pure lesbian will not be accepted as much though.
As for women, they in general are ‘not so much in to porn’ weather they belong to east or west compared to men. Most women will loath the idea of a man attracted to another man even though they are of opposite sex.
