The reason why its bothering us NOW, is because now the extremists are doing this to all of Pakistan. Whereas it didn't bother us before, since extremists only attacked minorities like sufi shrines and shia mosques, ahmedis etc only.

I think economy and terrorism is the immediate concern
long term strategy should focus on eduction for children as I believe its the only hopeful salvation for the next generation of pakistan

Also, a possible start to a better future would be to have the strictest tax laws in the world. The government must make people pay taxes, that they owe. If no money is coming in, then how will a country function?

To exact military might upon western pakistan, where taliban, al aqueda mentality have sought refuge from afghanistan. To abolish tribal mentality at whatever means possible via laws and punishment. To go after this scourge of earth with might . Quetta and surrounding areas first.
To amass pakistani military from one side and ISAF from the other side and squeeze the breath out of the extremists.
To abolish extremist madrasas no matter the protests. To close borders to Afghanistan.
And most importantly round out those in goverment who have been lenient to the extremist mentality.
Exact strict tax laws.
And not to bow one inch to the demands of the scum that pollute . This will take intestinal fortitude . And a regime change toward real democracy.
And education for each and every child is a must.

the model of democracy and free conomy that is already utilized is not the only model.
something more characteristic of an open-minded and flourshing Pakistan is called for.
