I was amazaed that Ramiz Raja didnt invited Yousaf to interview when he was given man of the match award today ?
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
i was also wondering that!!!!
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
May be Yousaf requested Raja not to interview him. I have a feeling that some of our players (e.g. Akmal, Rana, Yousaf, Butt) get more nervous about the TV interview (in English) than they are to go out and face McGrath, Harmison and Irfan Pathan, combined.
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
not butt, he is very fluent in english!!!
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
I second that. It seemed like a pre-request from Yousuf not to be invited. Hence, Ramiz did not bother.
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
If Inzamam can talk then I guess anyone and everyone can and should. Inzi doesnt have the best of English but atleast he tries, plus Ramiz could have taken Mohammad Yousuf's interview in Urdu. He was in Pakistan anyway atleast his fans would have been able to find out how he was feeling and what went through his mind as he was pilling up the runs. In anycase it's a tradition that MoM speaks after the match at the presentation ceremoney and it should have been done here as well.
Although I think on this batting track taking wickets is a lot harder then pilling runs, Kamran Akmal scored a big century along with taking some stunning catches but my MoM would have gone to Shoaib Akhtar for bowling his heart out on lifeless pitch and getting the desired result for his team.
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
butt speaks well with a lot of confidence.
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
^^ yea, he speaks pretty good.....but nobody in pakistan team can speak as fluent english as ganguly or rahul dravid of indian team can....
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
The match is in our home country, why would a national player be ashamed to speak in urdu?? Surely there must be another reason.....
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
You would think with the English coach and touring the world all the time, (along with some guys playing county) they would catch on with some English along the way.
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
skhan
exaclty... many other players from other sports speak in there own language..
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
fluentcy in english is nothing to worry about. its not our national language and if some one cant speak it there is nothing to be ashamed of.
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
shoaib can speakk good english. did you see vaughan trying to break yousaf's concentration by taking to him
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
Yousuf is a very shy and conserved character and one of those who shy away from the limelight, and this has been pointed out by many a commentators before.
It is highly likely he may not have wanted to talk whether in urdu or english.
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
i really doint get this fascination with blasting our players for not speaking english, i dont give a crap if they can speak english or not, like MIANDAD said some1 who is good in english, "Aap ko 100 chaihiye, ya agrezi?" its not these young guys's fault that they havent been afforded proper schooling unlike butt who had the luxury! and n e ways look in football they speak their own language, and in Pakistan there should b no hesitation in interviewing them in URDU!
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
exactly!
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
Still Mohammad Yousif can pile up loads of runs. I think thats what matters!!!
Re: Why MoM Yousuf was ignored in presentation
who cares who can speak english or not as far as they are letting their bat and ball do all the talking :)
