i don’t understand the big deal behind matte eyeshadows, they always looks too powdery and chalky even the expensive urban decay and mac ones especially in neutral colors. am i not applying them correctly??
it’s not that i only apply glitter eyeshadow but just a slight shimmer or frost makes eyes looks awake and bright.
also i was wondering that if i am using one matter eyeshadow as an all over lid color can i apply shimmer/frost/glitter shadow as a outer corner or brow bone?? or does the whole look has to be matter?
i love matte eyeshadows for daytime looks, for natural looking makeup looks, and for the office or school. also as a woman gets older glitter on the eyes is just not cute…unless you are doing dramatic desi eyes for a wedding. any other time it’s just not needed and juvenile to me…that’s just my opinion.
Before we had eyeshadow primers i used to love this line of maybelline cream eyeshadows that was discontinued. (rabia on her can tell you i used to do her eye makeup and use that as a base…i should probably buy more on ebay bc i still adore it and have none as it’s been discontinued.)
Anyhow using a shimmer based eye primer like urban decay’s primer in sin and then putting a matte eyeshadow can result in a richer pigment on the eyes with a subtle hint of shimmer to help waken your eyes. also keep in mind if you use a highlighter on your brow bone or take the color that is on your lid and add a brighter color towards the tear ducts it’ll brighten your eyes. always having curled lashes will give you that awake and fresh look as well.
i’m a big fan of these lower priced matte shadows (one revlon is great for daytime the other revlon is great for nightime looks) and the last one has shimmer but are in very desi friendly colors for a daytime look with shimmer, one of the colors has glitter in it so i try to avoid that but i think you’d like it. the picture online is off colored but earthling is the name of it.
oh loreal is also great for matte shadows.
Re: why matte eyeshadows??
thanks, i like the idea of using that simmery primer potion under matte eyeshadow.
Re: why matte eyeshadows??
I like to use Matte eyes shadows with shimmery eye shadows to neutralize the look also like to use them as high lighters

The big deal is that matte eyeshadows look good in flash photography and not greasy or too-sparkly the way shimmery or metallic eyeshadows often do. Also, if you are wearing shimmery, metallic or bold colors on your eyelid, it's best to use a matte shade to highlight the brow-bone, and vice-versa.
