Why it takes so long for a username to get activated once registered? It takes like a good 24 hours..

are u trying to activate a new nick so u can vote in a poll on the forum .. before the deadline for the poll runs out .. errm thas called rigging / fixing :p

Consider yourself lucky. It took 5 days for mine to get activated. I was about ready to submit to a blood test and credit check.

Activation of users is a manual process. Only myself and couple of other people are assigned to do that. We go through all the users waiting for activation, make sure that their email addresses and username do not reflect any indecency or profanity (you have no idea the kind of usernames people try to register), also visually scan the IP adresses to make sure that any known troll is not registering again with another multi.
Considering that we get about 60-70 registrations a day and the fact that the people who activate the users cant log in every hour or sometimes every day (its a volunteer work and we all do have a day time job :D), sometime it takes time. For most of the part, unless we reject your registration, you should be active within 36 hours max.
