Why is this?

None of my older male cousins properly talk to me. They get so shy and avert there gaze when im around. Like i get the whole she’s of age blah blah but my friends are so friendly and normal with their older male cousins which made me realise that mine hardly talk to me. It has already been established that there shall be no ‘cousin marriages’ puke within our families at all as agreed by the elders so i dont get what the problem is. Like on the odd occassion i’ll get a reply to my salaams otherwise its awkwardly silent. My dad thinks im SHY around them because i don try with them anymore. ASDFGHJKL i just dont even know what to say to that. Im not exactly gonna start a convo with them where i know i wouldnt get a reply. Like if i ask for the tv remote, they will not pass it directly to me… they will pass it to someone else like their sisters to pass it to me. My family is liberal so im just confused. They were born and brought up in the west too!

This happen to anyone else?

They just seem conservative.. Leave them be..

Even if the family is liberal overall it's not that strange that some of the guys might be more on the religious or conservative side.. They're not actually being rude or disrespectful, are they..

To each his/her own. If they want to maintain certain boundaries - respect their decisions - to insinuate yourself in a way they are not comfortable with is doing them a disservice.

The same could be said in reverse. What if you had an overly familiar guy cousin - very touchy-feeling who made inappropriate comments. Would you accept it or would you remove yourself from that situation? I'd hope the latter which goes to show - each person's boundaries should be respected.
