That is a AIM-9 Sidewinder missile. It will not explode unless it detects, within a few metres of the front of its nose, a powerful heat source, such as plane's engine.
The main danger to the man is being caught in the flaming hot exhaust of the missile.

The missile only has a few pounds of explosive. It would about as much to the aircraft carrier as me spitting on it.
