Isnt it time the ordinary muslims spoke out against the atrocities that are being committed by the rebel and the govt forces in Syria. Why the stoic silence.
I understand that Russia is trying to escalate the conflict by selling weapons to the Assad regime. I am not supporting any sides here. It just boils my blood that innocent blood is being spilled and nobody cares.
It is high time that the muslim leadership try to arrange a meeting with the Govt and rebels and try to sort things out. Why wait for the americans and the russians. They would have their own interests at heart.
Let's start with Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Remove the psychos in power in Iran and Saudi Arabia and end their silly games, the entire world will be a better place. Especially the Muslim countries.

Was just going to say the same as above - Muslim world was very silent about the Shia attacks and killings in Pakistan, it was also very silent for pretty much every incident except the core middle-eastern ones like Palestine, Iraq war, drawings of the Prophet (pbuh), etc. Syria is nothing, we didn't even say a thing about Darfur.
Plus, what Muslim leadership are you talking about?

Muslims are the same they eat halal, they pray to one allah, they go on hajj they have ramadhan.
they all want justice for palestine, they want peace in middle east.
But they all have puppet rulers who do not care what their people want the puppets only listen to the orders from Washington DC. they are not independent leaders not a single one of them their is your answer its the rulers not the people who are problem!
It's not just the rulers who are silent but the banner waving book banging self declared defenders of the faith ..from all the Abu this, Shaikh fulana or maulana dhimkana to the local import-a-Jahil mullahs in UK to the local born, raised and miseducated maulvi in Pakistan

While I agree with your analysis, I am just appalled by the lackadaisical attitude of the leadership. Imagine if such gross atrocity was happening against the muslims in a non-muslim country. The whole muslim world would have been up in arms. There would have been rallies, slogan shouting and what not. The ordinary muslim on the street would have been so enraged. Why isnt anybody bothered. Even at GS, why isnt anybody bothered. Why is everybody silent.
Also suddenly people are so enraged about Israel attacking Syria. I know that is outrageous and deserves the strongest condemnation, but why the silence when the rebels and the govt are making life hell for the ordinary Syrians..

And alawis are not muslims so its not like its muslim against muslim war…

Do not bring sects to the equation. You cannot compare terrorism and lawlessness. What is happening in Syria is not lawlessness. It is pure genocide. I am not singling out muslims. I am just appalled by the lackadaisical attitude of everybody concerned. Please note that I am concerned about humanity and also about the plight of the ordinary people. They are first to suffer and have the most to loose.

Didn't the Syrian rebels use chemical weapons against Civilians? Odd how the US and EU has been silent on the matter.
So please enlighten me on why should US and EU bother. They have their own interests at heart. It is high time the muslim world stopped looking at the west for their acceptance and decide what is good for them. The plight of the US is something like Damned if you do and damned if you dont...

I try to look at this as an independent person, and in my opinion the Muslim world doesn't really exist in this context. The Sunni powers like Qatar, Turkey and Saudi are supporting the rebels against the Assad who is supported mainly by the minorities and Shia Iran.
Iran and Syria both non-Sunni are the only Muslim countries who are not puppets of the US and are they only countries which can possibily pose a threat to Israel that is why the West are willing Assad to lose. Regardless of the outcome now Syria will become a broken state at least in the short to medium term. That would mean these broken states wouldn't be able to support Palestinian groups as much and Israel can continue with their anti-Palestinian policies.

Besides, the Muslim world is not completely silent. They have already ejected Assad's government from the Arab League and declared that Assad is not the legitimate ruler of Syria. Egypt is constantly trying to arrange for a pan-Muslim solution, but all efforts fail because the Assad and the rebels refuse to compromise on the issue of whether or not Assad remains ruler of Syria. Assad's position is that he will negotiate for any peace which involved him remaining ruler and retaining his power, but obviously since him being ruler and having power is what started the rebellion, the rebels are not willing to accept it.
Saudi Arabia and Qatar and Turkey's government are providing weapons and money to the FSA rebels. Many people are evidently also providing very high levels of funding to the more extremist elements amongst the rebels than the FSA are getting because the Al-Nusra Front is significantly better equipped and armed than the FSA now.
Syria's ballistic missile capability is preventing other Muslim countries from intervening more actively. Syria has hinted very strongly that it would use chemical weapons against any external country that invades it, and nobody wants to see chemical missiles launched at Istanbul, Ankara, Amman, Jeddah, or Riyadh.
