Why is the hijab so rare among Pakistanis?

We all know that it is a mandatory code of dress in Islam. Women are required to cover all aspects of their bodies except their hands and face. Why is modesty and haya so uncommon?

Women in Pakistani serial dramas and those who go to weddings/parties almost always show their hair (even if they decide to cover it when going outdoors). This temporary hijabi trend is also annoying.

Can someone shed light on this issue? Do women not fear the punishment of God for exposing their bodies/hair anymore? What is happening to us?

You're kidding.....right?

you go cutee chick 88 :lifey:

Re: Why is the hijab so rare among Pakistanis?

Nope. There is no compulsion in religion, but I always wonder why more and more women are not embracing the loveliness of modesty and wearing the hijab in Islam. Pakistanis especially. I find that it is not the norm to wear it and it actually really bothers me considering its beauty and meaningful purpose.

Re: Why is the hijab so rare among Pakistanis?

I think you're generalising a bit there, mate. I'm Pakistani and I wear hijab. Plus, hijab isn't JUST about covering your head, it's about what's in your heart and your intentions. I'm sure plenty of members on here can tell you not all women are like this.

And since when did TV represent real life??

Re: Why is the hijab so rare among Pakistanis?

Thanks for the support TLK and STA. We all know this needed to be said. :)

Re: Why is the hijab so rare among Pakistanis?

I know hijab isn't just about covering your head and body. There is the idea of inner and outer hijab, but for the purpose of this thread I am focusing on outer hijab. How external modesty and haya are so rare, and how it really annoys me. Yes there are good, hijabi women who are pure from within and the outside, but I find that it is so scarce, and it's ridiculous. :(

Why is the hijab so rare among Pakistanis?

Forget hijab, how many of us offer the 5 obligatory prayers? Not many..some do, some dont..some offer 2 3 of them..
What about fasting? You know most people living abroad are following Islam a bit more than pakistanis..Iv seen so many people here(pak) leaving fasts..
How many of us pay zakat properly?
What I mean is, when people esp pakistanis are not even following the pillars of Islam then why stressing on hijab?
Im more annoyed at the acts people are so commonly doing and dont even consider as gunah..like backbiting and taunting etc
The beauty of hijab can only be understood by the person who does it..rest just ignore..saddens me:(
How can people ignore religion so easily:(?
What excuse do they give for not following it? Example for not doing hijab..aah now im upset:crying:

Re: Why is the hijab so rare among Pakistanis?

^ ahh Sahr you point out to a big truth. I'm a Pakistani Canadian. And I witness Pakistanis here following Islam more than my cousins back home. It's so sad. :(

Re: Why is the hijab so rare among Pakistanis?

one word...HYPOCRISY!

Oh Canadaa...

Re: Why is the hijab so rare among Pakistanis?

Just a small note ... a muslima who prays five times a day - will at least be observing the covering of her extended satr during those times ...

Can it be argued therefore that prayer encourages outer hijab?

Re: Why is the hijab so rare among Pakistanis?

Guess religion doesn't appeal to everyone in Pakistan. Some people just don't subscribe to the same religious beliefs as you. Living in Pakistan doesn't mean I have to wear a hijab or offer prayers. No where in constitution does it that I'm supposed to do all that. Why can't people mind their own business and not care about other people's religious beliefs or lack thereof.
Then there's the weather. Here in Karachi, the majority can't afford air conditioning at home, during travel or at work. Do you expect women to cover up in black and soak up all the heat. They feel hot too. Why can't you let people be. Those who want to wear Hijab should wear it, but forcing it on someone is plain wrong.

Why is the hijab so rare among Pakistanis?

No one is forcing anything over anyone so please no need to be so aggresive..and for God’s sake Im not saying anythn personal nor am I trying to offend u so pls dont start a argument over it..
Its a matter being discussed..question is if u(not u) say u r muslim then hijab is a part of islam then why isnt it being observed..esp in pak which is a muslim majority country? Just as I said earlier..when so many people dont even offer the obligatory prayers then why stress on hijab..that comes later..
