What the hell seriously?
Is it all it is there to this month? Sehri kya ki, Iftari kya ki, where you went to Iftar buffet, or Iftar party or take endless pictures of what you ate and where you ate, or what you cooked and how it looks?
Is it only Pakistanis or other muslims are also this much obsessed with food?

Dude…even in normal days…I am like breakfast mein kya …lunch mein kya… Evening mein..kya…aur chutur putur bna lete hain…ya kha lete hain…and you are talking about Ramzan…(we don’t have Rozas but yet)
Yes…food is a big deal… Only thing in the whole world worth making big deals about…

Waise it isn’t supposed to be that way…during fast one is not supposed to think about food.. During our Monday fasts I don’t think about food… Not even once…
I have devised a stupid theory in my mind…that if u think about food during fast… God feels guilty that he is making u not eat… And he doesn’t help u then… So u do it happily…like hey dude I bought u a fast…and he will remember that he bought me a fast without ehsaan…so he helps you… Something like that…

I do think over this aspect. Like other things, now religious occasions like Ramadan got commercial touch. There are people who get blessings during the month and there are people who just celebrate it like food festival.

I get your point OP. But ramadan is suppose to be less about food as you know..more about focusing on improving of one’s self. Alhamdulli’lah…so far i am being good boy. Been going to taraweeh regularly aside from doing all the regular salawaats. Last year..i missed out on taraweeh prayers..not sure what happened to me. I think i was less focus. But now..less food=more ibadahh…

Man why can’t it be about ibadat AND food? I wait all year round to be able to cook for my family in these challenging circumstances. Do you have any idea about the SKILL it takes to cook 1) in the heat while fasting 2) not being able to taste the food to make sure it’s alright 3) MAKING delicious food and yet not eating it, the aroma is enough to have one pass out lol 4) and then getting it all perfect by the Grace of the Almighty. Allah mia knows that the one cooking has a huge responsibility because others fasting are relying on what they are doing.
As for praying, i read the quran with every prayer and do regular Taraweeh as well. Any more ibadat than that and i know i’m kidding myself because i won’t be following up with that the rest of the year. It’s all about Ibadat and food really. I look forward to Ramadan all year for this. lol

Ramadan is a special and sacred time of the year for Muslims.
When people are happy, they share their joy with their family…around food.
If I get to sit at a table with my family and have some damn good food after a whole day of not eating…I don’t think that should be looked down upon.
One more thing…I for one take a lot of pride in cooking for my family. I make an effort to make things that are healthy and taste good because its important to me.
As long as people are not neglecting their worship, its not a bad thing to be excited about the dahi baray your mom makes this month because its Ramadan. These are memories. If someone wants to be a Scrooge about it, go ahead. But for the others…please do carry on and spread the happy vibes!

I enjoy eating food, and since these are long summer rozeys. I don’t mind people asking me what I’m eating to smoothly sail through my fasts. Some healthy tips do get shared.
But I refuse to take millions of pictures of my Iftaar food, put them under several filters just to parade them on social media. Ramzaan is not supposed to be an annual food festival! By showing off the lavish and elaborate iftaris, you are effectively contradicting the ultimate message and purpose of Ramzaan.

Nope. Other Muslims do it too. Iftari is the only meal and the main meal of your day…don’t see what the issue is if people want to make it special?
