This phenomenon is not new. Since partition these generals had behaved like deities for Pakistanis. There have been always a vast majority particularly belonging to Punjab who praise them as their saviors. Pakistan army is like social welfare department for them. Hence who so ever benefit by joining army getting perks and undue benefits at the cost of the country will always sing ‘bajans’ for this army. Army itself is also involved in interfering with civilian governments and media, they have the force and means to kick the arse of anyone without challenge in the Pakistani courts, who tries to show the true face of them. As long they have support of Punjab unconditionally this will go on for ever.
Only brief time of ZAB’s rule, where civilian government had upper hand over these people. As soon they were rehabilitated by ZAB after 1971 disaster, they hanged their savior and sent his dead body to his ancestor’s town. After that a very brief period NS tried to enforce constitution to make them serve under the civilian government. He was arrested, sent to 25 years of jail (being a Punjabi he was not hanged or killed) and later banished to KSA for 10 years on the recommendations of their real masters.
