Is it only me who thinks Pakistan is a lot more isolated especially among immediate neighbors (except China). For example, India single-handedly bycotted and revoked SAARC summit, there was nothing Pak could do.
And its not a result of Pakistan’s incompetent foreign ministry now, i think its been a while since Pakistan had a effective foreign and diplomatic policy. Actually last effective foreign minister was Sahibzada Yaqub khan who was a key member behind settling Afghan war.
And for a brief time it was Maliha Lodhi who is still doing a great job at UN.
Now Sartaj Aziz and others are just useless tools who are given such an important role without any major aptitude. One should never raise their expectation with these incompetent people in charge.
However i’m against bycotting any such events. It’ll just further isolate you and drag you to the corner. Conflicts dont get resolved by NOT talking.

Now, don’t get me as one of those jamati trolls that believes that Pakistan could’ve sat out WoT, but i think that we could’ve done better when it came to negotiating with the US / NATO wrt Afghanistan.
If it was me then I would do things a little differently. Some of what I propose is already been done but there is still more to do.
First of all, Pakistan needs to get tough with Afghanistan. Awwghan *****ing didn’t stop Pakistan to build well-fortified bunkers at the western border and it is a good first step that awwghans need visas to enter Pakistan. This is what I didn’t get at the conference where ghani wants “cross-border verification” but when it comes time to implement that, they have fired upon Pakistani troops inside our own border and don’t want a visa regime there. They still haven’t learnt the lesson that Pakistan is not the weakling India of 2 centuries that was invaded by greedy afghan kings.
As far as india is concerned, there needs to be a tough approach with them as well. The saffron monkeys only understand tough language and actions. PA needs to take out BSF / indian army bunkers next time that india fires upon pakistani troops and civilians; they have been getting away with for too long.
Pakistan needs to work economically with Iran. If the pipeline works, then sure have China make it to the Pakistani border. Pakistan should be open to including Iran in CPEC and perhaps have oil flow directly to China through Pakistan. Saudis also need to be told that Pakistan is not their *****. Saudis will get the message as there is no competent army that they can call on in the region aside from America which is becoming disinterested in the region. No more proxy iran-saudi wars in pakistan.

Actually this term, Nawaz sharif is doing pretty good. He hasnt launched any operation against MQM. He hasnt taken panga with judiciary and army. He didnt stop the fight against terrorism (zarb ul asb).
Agriculture has improved manifolds. Their is no shortage of wheat, rice, and sugar. Not too long ago, even garlic was getting import from china. Now the poor man has his roti. Most people have sweet water to drink. Electricity situation has also gone better.
