Why is Maulana Fazlur "diesel" Rehman off to Paris?

It’s not like him to take trips to western capitals, especially at such notice? Is President Musharraf not in Paris soon as well?

Fazl off to Paris before no-trust

Just three days before the National Assembly takes up the no-confidence motion against Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) Secretary General Maulana Fazlur Rehman left for Paris on Wednesday on an unscheduled visit as part of an understanding with the government, Daily Times has learnt. *** “Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s decision to go abroad at this time indicates he has an understanding with the government to frustrate the no-confidence motion against the speaker,”*** sources told Daily Times. The Pakistan People’s Party-Parliamentarians (PPPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were surprised by Mr Rehman leaving the country just ahead of the no-confidence motion. “It’s strange that he has gone abroad at this time,” a PPPP leader said. President General Pervez Musharraf, in exercise of his powers under Article 54 of the Constitution, on Wednesday summoned the National Assembly to meet on June 28.

The MMA was the first opposition group in the National Assembly to file a no-confidence motion against Mr Hussain for his ruling declaring the Legal Framework Order (LFO) part of the constitution. A total 12 no-confidence motions were filed. The movers also include the PPPP and PML-N. The government has been secretly negotiating with Mr Rehman to resolve the LFO and president’s uniform issues as MMA Parliamentary Leader and Jamaat-e-Islami chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed has refused to budge from his stated position on these issues. PML-QA President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has been trying to get the MMA to join the government since the elections, and Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali has not expanded his cabinet so he can accommodate the MMA in there and the Patriots and the National Alliance (NA) are not over-represented, the source said. *** “The MMA may split in the post-no-confidence scenario with the JUI-F most likely to join the government,”*** the sources said, adding that the tug of war between the NWFP nazims and provincial government had ‘jolted’ the JUI-F leadership, who were desperate to remain in charge of the province and thus are weary of threats of governor’s rule.

There are already visible differences within the MMA, of which Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) is the largest component followed by the JI. The other four component parties of the alliance are JUI-Samiul Haq, Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) of Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani, Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith (JAH) of Professor Sajid Mir and Islami Tehrik (IT) of Allama Sajid Naqvi. The JI, JUP and JAH have taken a very strong position on the LFO and President Musharraf’s continuing as army chief while the JUI-F and JUI-S have been flexible on all contentious issues. The JUI-F is also the Balochistan PML-QA government’s major coalition partner.

Maybe he wants to spend some time together with Musharraf.

Really, do you think so?

Do I see a lota in the making?

Maybe he has been watching the Iranians protesting in Paris, and wants to go the same way. i.e burn himslef to death in this great city? Would this be a good thing for Pakistan?

Maybe he is going for tableegh :)

diesal :hehe:

:hehe: That’s nasty. :hehe:

Look what my opening news story said:-

***“Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s decision to go abroad at this time indicates he has an understanding with the government to frustrate the no-confidence motion against the speaker,” ***

And look what has just happened:-

No-trust motion in Parliament thrown out

A no-confidence vote against the speaker of Pakistan’s federal parliament was rejected Saturday when opposition parties boycotted their own motion. “No one has turned up to take the ballot paper. No vote has been received in favour or against therefore the resolution stands rejected,” deputy speaker Sardar Mohammad Yaqub announced as opposition MPs staged a walkout.

It’s seem all Maulana Diesel did some back room double dealing/back stabbing?

If this is true, then the Government has set new standards in Horse Trading! Man, and I thought Zardari and BB were good ;)

MMA people are no different from BB and NS. They are worse in the sense that they use Islam to do their dirty deeds. The only common bond in Pakistan will be corrupted by these people. Hopefully these evil people can be gotten rid of so Islam can be a religion again and source of hope for the people.

Well in Maulana Fazlur Rahman case that is factually true. He went around in the early 1990’s proclaiming loudly that a woman could not be a leader of Pakistan i.e. the Prime Minister, as it is supposedly against Islam? Yet what did he do afterwards? He joined in an alliance with Benazir Bhutto, and earned the tag “Maulana Diesel” for his not so above the board dealings in that government. :hehe:

I won’t even go into the antics of another MMA leader - Maulana Sami ul Haq known in some circles as “Sandwich Sammy”… and believe me it’s not for his eating habits.

would you like to increase the knowledge of others? I would like to understand the story behind sandwich sammy’s nickname

2 women...him...sandwich...

Oh Fraudia, this is a family forum so I will have to be careful with what I write about this great scandal of the 1990’s that old “Sandwich Sammy” would like to forget I’m sure.

Needless to say our holier than thou Maulana Sami ul-Haq leader of the JUI (S), one of the six component parties of the MMA alliance ** was nicknamed “Sammy Sandwich” after he was allegedly caught between two companions in a brothel.**](http://www.gvnews.net/html/DailyNews/alert3065.html)

After the scandal old hypocrite withdrew from the centre stage of Pakistani politics, only to re-emerge a few years ago. There are other salacious details about this scandal, but I’ll leave that to others to share, if they want?

Hmm, Sami's kids make him look like a saint! Same with Diesals brothers. Anyone heard of Maulana Kausar Niazi? He was a old pplitie. He used to be called Maulana Whisky!

Still, I think I know whats worse, NOT the fact that the Maulanas do what they do, BUT the fact that the powers that be were more then happy to induct those people as Federal Ministers and in case of Fazlur Rehman (deputy prime Minister) if they played ball over the LFO.

Yes, and these people have been lecturing about the need for more Islam and morals in all aspects of Pakistani society, and you would think these people would be of the utmost moral rectitude? There is NOTHING worse than someone who says they stand in the name of our great religion, Islam and castigates others for not following Islam if they deem it so, and then for them to turn around and be the biggest HYPOCRITES of them all.

:hehe:

dude looking at the antics of these mullahs (sorry I will never refer to them as mualanas as I have indicated before), we should indust a few more mullahs in MMA who will fit in quite well

Mullah Larry Flynr
Mullah Hugh Heffner
Mullah Ron Jeremy

why not have these guys talk about shariah and islamic way of life. heck if sandwich sami, mulla whiskey etc are around, why stop at that?

I wonder which positions Madam Tahira is talking about in the quote below?

http://www.expressindia.com/ie/dail...8/ige08008.html

quote:

The bearded Sami-ul Haq, nearing 70, has been a bitter critic of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ever since the two parted ways in the early '90s. This parting resulted in the now infamous media cell of Sharif’s PML-N party publicising the interviews of a certain Madam Tahira, who is supposed to have kept a house of pleasure in Islamabad and whose clients included the rich and famous. In her interviews, Madam Tahira talked about Maulana Sami-ul Haq and certain positions'' he favoured. The media lapped it up and had a ball. Even today, some papers refer to Sami-ul Haq as Sammy Sandwich’’ in reference to those interviews.

Absolutely shocking!

The MMA and it’s leaders are unlike any other party (government or opposition) in Pakistan in that they have actively demonstrated and implemented policies to police the morals of Pakistani people, and continue to lecture and demand from all other parties more laws in this regard. The prime examples being the so-called “Shariat Bill” that they have passed in NWFP, the banning of male coaching of sportswomen, and tearing down of billboards in other parts of Pakistan for supposedly displaying “indecent” images of women. In furtherance of this the MMA government in NWFP is reportedly planning to set up a “Vice and Virtue Department” to implement the morals of the people of NWFP in line with their “Shariat Bill”. Unbelievable.

These not so virtuous people want to police the morals of other Pakistani people? If that is not the height of hypocrisy and double standards and the tarnishing of the good name of our religion, I don’t know what is?
