Great point. I see the same.
I do see successful people having a religious side, but its more because they’ve seen the ups and downs in life, and they know what it means to work hard. They feel like they owe their sucess to Allah, and that they ought to work harder for Allah to repay Him for his blessings.
But that’s a small group of people.
Most of the ones that get into your face about things and will sit there and argue with you on points in Islam just to show they “know a lot”, are precisely the ones who aren’t doing well in school and at the job.
It boosts their self-confidence, makes them feel more secure, makes them more happy that there is at least something they are “good” at. It makes them feel good to lecture others, makes them feel more powerful.
And we all know how important an ego is to a man.
