Why is Harry Potter so Popular?

Re: Why is Harry Potter so Popular?

Yeah the competition but the particular bit where harry was hidden in the invisible cloak and snape was searching on the stairs. That was high suspense man lol

There are no pictures in the British editions.

What I mean by that is, her writing style is very basic and therefore easy to read. But I do agree there is soooooooooooooo much attention to detail. Every time you read it you find some new detail or connection you had not thought about before. Even the names of the characters have hidden meanings like Sirius is a star also called the Great Dog and Sirius' animagus is a dog.

she made it a public announcement because she was reading the scripts for the 6th movie and it mentioned a girl he liked. she said that couldn't happen because he was gay.

What I have noticed about her style of writing (with regard to Harry Potter series) is the fact that as Harry grows up, and matures, her writing style changes with it. That is not to say that she was immature or 'childish' initially, when she started writing.Just that, perhaps she chose it to be that way. The themes grow profunder,as Harry grows up...and to some extent the tone and mood of the books becomes a little more bleak and darker.
This style reminds me of "The Portrait of Artist as a Young Man". Those of you who have read this novel might be able to see what I am trying to drive at.
