Why is Chess Haraam in Islam?

Why does Islam prohibit the game of chess?

Re: Why is Chess Haraam in Islam?

What? Since when?

Whats next, monopoly?!?!

Re: Why is Chess Haraam in Islam?

Maybe from time wastage point of view. Also because people used to gamble on the results and gambling is prohibited

games of chance are prohibited. As long as there is no monetary gain you are fine.
Then again monopoly should be avoided as it such an infuriating game. The end result is always the same. House flying this way. Hotel going that way. Money raining down..lol
Chess is not Haram. Especially since it aides in a Muslim using his brain for a change :p

Re: Why is Chess Haraam in Islam?

It's like asking why cigarettes are prohibited in Islam.

*A lot of people extrapolate the essential message in Islam to many acts people are engaged in.
*

Does not mean Islam 'directly' prohibited them

*It is up to the individual to accept the extrapolation or not. *

Nothing wrong and right there if one really looks in to the basics of Islam.
