Re: why is a desi community
LOL stereotype much?
In my Clan the current chief is a woman, no joke she has been running the Desi community round here for twenty years… ![]()
Naturally I’m a thorn in the side of that establishment but I have to admit the crone controls everything behind the scenes… Thoubah thoubah back home she would be put on trail as a Witch.
Re: why is a desi community
Why? Have you been living under a rock? Everyone knows it’s because they come out from your closet of from under the bed and scare you at night.
Re: why is a desi community
For some people, independence is synonymous with a loss of power or control over the other person. Perceived as a threat more than that a positive quality. Insecurity perhaps. Also, in some cultures the actions of the subjugated person or gender determine the “izzat” or reputation of the more dominant person.
Re: why is a desi community
@rolla_coaster: are you from stone age? those days are gone .. ..
Re: why is a desi community
^Not really. Very independent women still often run the risk of being tagged as Tez and what not- negatively.
Re: why is a desi community
those days are not gone.
Re: why is a desi community
^^ philo u sounds lik multi of rolla … sachii … ![]()
sach sach bata do r u … ?
Re: why is a desi community
A matter of control? I think it’s more to do with the fact that seeing a woman who’s successful, ambitious, driven and ambitious ultimately leads to self-analysis…i guess some find it uncomfortable and aren’t happy with having to really look at themselves, their achievements…their own lives.
Re: why is a desi community
Don’t get married or ever have a kid. Because being pregnant means you’ll be dependent on your husband, you wouldn’t want that!
Re: why is a desi community
^What?
Re: why is a desi community
In today’s day and age, you don’t need a husband to get pregnant.
Re: why is a desi community
Notice how its mostly the men saying “no its not true.”
I think most women feel it and men refuse to accept it.
Re: why is a desi community
Lol I was joking. Because when a woman’s pregnant, she really can’t move around as well etc.
But in all seriousness, I suppose it depends on the family. In general, from what I’ve seen anyways, I wouldn’t say women are told not to be independent. What I do think though, is that only one person in the family can have a power career. Those types of jobs usually require long hours and unless you plan on having a nanny raise your kids, both people can’t be coming home late every night. I’m assuming by independence you were referring to a job, financial stability etc.
Re: why is a desi community
Because everyone knows if all women become independent, the incompetent, gutless men in our society can never compete. And that is why they are afraid.
Re: why is a desi community
Because an independent woman might not make them parathay every day or believe in the negative aspects of our culture that some people believe is also Islam…![]()
