In a society where legends are acknowledged and adored mostly posthumously, criticism of Imran Khan becoming a fashion makes perfect sense. The PTI chief who was earlier ridiculed for having no electables, is now taunted for cuddling seasoned politicians who did not deliver earlier. These people discount Imran as if they are already flush with options and facing embarrassment of riches.
While I can perorate as to why Imran must be given a chance, I would instead just share with you reason behind my decision to make a new mistake instead of repeating old ones.
All those who proclaim that he does not stand a chance, or that he be crucified for admitting turncoats to his party, should read the following:

but I am bound to live by the light that I have. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong.”

I believe this is what Imran stands for. While some opportunists might have surrounded him,
the leader himself is a stunning success story and deserves to be given a chance to actualize
his credos on a countrywide canvas. Imran cannot make things anymore worse because we
have already bottomed out. There is virtually nothing left to be destroyed! What we want to protect from Imran and his team? Even if he fails, we will lose nothing because we have nothing. In a situation like ours, allowing assumptions to prevail over hopes is like getting
worried about global warming after being sentenced to death.
If Imran does not stand by Abraham Lincoln’s tenets and does not part with those who go wrong, than at least I would part with his party because my affiliation is unconditional only for my country, not for any individual or party. Jiyalas take a note please.
