There is a lot wrong with Pakistan itself, the sectarian and ethnic politics and a lot of it is really lame. You did not cause it, support it or promote it. I don’t see a reason for you to fret about actions of people in a place you have only a tangential connection now.

You are your own person, your background, origin, race, are things you don’t choose. Who you are and what you do should be a bigger source of pride than these other factors.

So, if part of this is being forced to see against your wishes, be your own person and say n. If this means being booted out of the house then so be it. You can’t make a massive impact on the ethnic issues you noted taking place in Pakistan, however you can oppose cultural/family traditions that impact you directly by opposing them and taking a stand. Maybe that will help you become more independent and on a path to be an individual taking pride in yourself and not pride or embarrassment from things that are only a statistical event.

Also don’t take statements like we don’t need you to heart, gadflies are important, your points are valid and should be a matter of concern to more people, especially those in Pakistan.

Don’t live your life hostage by decisions, biases, apathy and conditions of people, and politician of Pakistan or traditions of your family or opinions of your father.
