The best days of my life and there are many more to come were spent in the company of my freinds. Some boys some girls. I hate going to a place without girls. I went to a Coed school in karachi, we grew up with girls by our side. We learnt to respect them and love them , we learnt the joys of acceptance the fears of rejection but most important of all we had fun .
My first date on sea view was a disaster! The girl from Convent of Jesus and Mary( a school in Karachi) was with me as we strolled the beach in Karachi. The next thing I see is a huge camel standing in front of us . Ofcourse she wanted to ride. I thought that was insane . ANy way so I tell the camel guide to give us ride. So we sat on the camel. As we were riding my now ex- girlfreind noticed that her family was also
picnicking at seaview. They were a few feet away from us and had not noticed us yet. Ofcourse if they found out we would be grounded for life. So she screams" tell him to turn around" so we did and now the camel is running. Eventually when we got far eneough to get of and in to my car. I was laughing she was screaming " get me home now!" so I drove as fast As I could to her home somewhere near the Mohata palace. Her parting words were " I never want to see you again". Sweet memories that last forever!
Ofcourse like any other Desi I started calling her as soon as I got home. My aunt who was kind enough to make the call incase her mother picked up. We made up met at Holiday Inn ( now Marriot ) and went to a Awaz concert. SO you see these memories and so many more made me who I am .
The fun of dealing with " I never want to see you again" and a karachi girls favourite line " You may call me but hangup if daddy picks up the phone" are like pearls of wisdom. I treasure these experinces and now at 21 history continiues to repeat it self.
So I say To HELL With the MUllahs live it up poeple . Pick up that phone call the one you love and make things happen. Dont be losers enjoy when you can. I sure will .

Enterprise as for your question I did not run it was the camel that was running I was sitting on it praying that her family doesnt see us. You see in Pakistan some families don't like their daughters to go on dates ect. They have double standards for boys and girls.
Hey Umar I heard the party scene is Lahore is pretty good. Is that true. When I was in Karachi last summer the parties were swinging.
The beach parties were very well organized but some of them had no place for parking . We parked so far away from the hut we were worried someone might steal our car.

Well there was this miss X(from kinniard)who had no problems whatsoever:be it coming out at nights,hanging around with guys,having all sorts of fun.
and guess what,her parents had all the idea in the world what their daughter was up to and stuff!amazing aint it!
so the point is that in our society there are people who are enlightened enough to consider their daughters as being equal to their sons,and that girls are also entitled to the kind of shughal that guys are able to enjoy.
but again its the girls sole responsibility that she prevents the situation from getting out of hands, and that she doesnt bring shame(in the real sence of the word) to her family.

Superman the party scene in Lahore is in some ways better than Karachi...I went to this party there two years ago i think during Basant, and you should have seen the people there...its not like in Karachi, where you have to have an invite or they dont let you in...the parties in lahore are more open and they welcome you even if they dont know you...just as long as you bring the booz ofcourse... :)
I ofcourse was invited, it was an NTM party and all the models and stuff were there...

In which century are you living? These are the 90's . Going out on dates is becommnig very common in Pakistan. ThankGod, some girls are getting tired of the old backward ways . We are finally progressing. Unfortuanetly some Mullahs like you dont want that. But we will continue to mordernize wether you like it or not.

I have never been to a party in Pakistan but they sound like the parties the desi group have here in the US. How do you get the booze? I thought it was illegal to get alcahol in Pakistan. Don't you feel like you are copying a culture that is totally foreign to you? Nobody in the American culture would copy Pakistani culture. They are proud of their heritage. I know these are the 90s, but that doesn't change Islam, you can either try to follow it or forget it. Going out on dates may be becoming common but it still doesn't make it right.
The old ways as you call them are the right way, it seems like you have lost your way from the correct path.
