The only admirable thing he once did was go upto Vajpayee in the middle of a speech and shake his hand ages ago, but then again, afterwards he bent over to India and handed his tushi in a wrapper for a good spanking. He also humiliated the nation when he defended an army captain who raped a woman and then said stuff like 'jis ko west ka visa chahiyeh woh rape ho jata hai'.
Pak became a "joke of the world" because at home with the freedom Musharraf had given to the press, there was much name-calling and rabble rousing going on. You also have the Karzais, the King Abdullahs, t he Malikis of the world, yet for some odd reason rarely are they browbeaten by their media and hence the world's. The whole rape issue was blown out of proportion, I frankly think its not even worth discussion. Corruption went significantly down during his tenure, and with thugs like Zordari around there is only one way it can go now...
