Why Fawad and other good players weren't selected?

Fawad Alam’s interview.

Re: Why Fawad and other good players weren't selected?

Because Misbah sucks

Re: Why Fawad and other good players weren't selected?

We didn't have good batsmen selected and we didn't even have backup... How dumb is PCB?

Re: Why Fawad and other good players weren’t selected?

Yeah it was Misbah who made sure he wasn’t selected

When the whole PCB setup is one big farce + Domestic Cricket isn’t producing Batsmen of Worldclass caliber then you can continue harping about Misbah and who not

http://www.pic4ever.com/images/vahidrk.gif

… the Problem lies at the very foundation this country’s cricket is built on

Re: Why Fawad and other good players weren’t selected?

Do you think that Pakistani cricket is producing world class bowlers? …

If that is the case (as Pakistan is producing world class bowlers) than those scoring in Pakistan domestic cricket are facing and scoring against world class bowlers. So, why PCB not looking at Pakistan domestic cricket and select the one who is scoring runs against these bowlers, and stop showing prejudice and biases?

In the end, whatever the condition of Pakistan domestic cricket, PCB is still selecting players from domestic lots, so why they are selecting players with lesser performance and ignoring players with better performance? … With that happening, all the excuses that Pakistan do not have world class batsmen is nothing but silly excuses to cover up PCB’s nepotism, corruption, prejudices, biases, and what not … something nothing to do with the quality of batsmen Pakistan is producing.

Re: Why Fawad and other good players weren't selected?

I do agree with u on the crap that PCB has become needs to be rooted out and players needs to be selected on playing merits only but How many List A centurians did we produce in last 3-4 seasons?

How many ODI centurions have we produced lately and especially how many of them have thrived on bowling friendly wickets ..... it's not that these Batsmen have only struggled against against Top bowling units ..... Ever lesser bowling units have had an impact and that too on flat tracks

Fact of the matter is that even our bowling has come under fire from power hitting especially on UAE tracks let alone on southern hemisphere tracks with more bounce and zip of the deck

How many times in the last 2-3 years have we failed to play out the entire 50 overs?

It's quite funny that PPL start shooting at one or 2 players ..... the problem is deep rooted and solution only to come by step by step ..... for this things need to start at the top = PCB and then head down to domestic structure, the grounds, the pitches and of course the players

Re: Why Fawad and other good players weren’t selected?

^^^ Pakistani batting problem is not that Pakistan is playing pathetically in ODIs. Problem is that players who are playing for Pakistan do not deserve to be there on merit. If Pakistan loses every ODI but players are there on merit of domestic performance than one can say that this is what Pakistani has, so be it. But when Pakistan loses a single match and we know that merit was not observed than it becomes irritating and unacceptable.

If selection would have been on merit of domestic performance (or equivalent ODI performance), it would not only give better players (batsmen or bowlers) to team but would encourage domestic players to work hard with hope that their hard work and performance would pay. In present situation, even talented players who could be Pakistani future ‘AB de Villiers’, they leave cricket and try to find career in other fields with knowledge that they have no chance in cricket regardless of talent or performance.

As for your question about ODI centurions in Pakistani national team, than, when their making or not making runs is not criteria of selection, then obviously second class players would play in national team and that would happen what you mentioned. Players would play with Average of 31 and SR of 70 and there would be lack of centuries.

But that does not mean, Pakistan do not have players playing in domestic cricket who could post average above 40 with SR above 90. Unfortunately, they come and go without getting too much attention, as they have no chance of breaking into national cricket, or staying in national team for long regardless of their performance, so they leave cricket for some jobs they can make their living, and we never hear of them.

Just for example: I was checking figures of Presidential cup (List A) tournament and found that in 2013-14, Pakistanis made 20 centuries in that tournament. Many had averages above 50 and SR above 80, some even had SR above 100, but they are not in national team when lowly lots are playing in national team. On the other hand, many play in national team and avoid domestic cricket as if they got their parchi so who cares, they have become son-in-law of Pakistan cricket team and what maybe, they would keep playing in national team.

Check Presidential cup tournament and you would find name of many national players missing, while their ODIs performance is also pathetic to be in national team.

Re: Why Fawad and other good players weren't selected?

As Sa1eem already mentioned that the failure of team to last 50 overs, or be able to score a century depends on what kind of players you select.... 'garbage in garbage out'. I'll give you one example of one player Faisal Athar from Hyderabad, he was given just ONE ODI after he averaged I believe 60+ in domestic (List A). In that ODI he score 9 runs and that was the end of his international career. Now you can count how many chances Imran Farhat, Taufeeq Umar got against that.

Re: Why Fawad and other good players weren't selected?

Things aren't looking any good for future either. We are going back to tried and tested failures like Asad Shafiq, Azhar Ali, Shoaib Malik, Umar Amin etc.

This is the time to groom Babar Azam, Sami Aslam, Zafar Gauhar, Hammad Azam, Raza Hasan, Sadaf Hussain and give proper chance to Fawad Alam. We kept giving chances to Malik, Kamran, Bhatti, Anwar Ali, Asad Shafiq, Amin without ever trying new faces like India does really well and then took come completely inexperienced players to World Cup. The planning for next WC starts NOW!

Re: Why Fawad and other good players weren't selected?

Where there is Fawad
There is Sa1eem

Re: Why Fawad and other good players weren't selected?

everyone keeps raving about how fawad's absence cost the WC........wake up people.....one middle order dude is not going to win you anything when the OPENERS don't perform, neither does the batting line up (we won a couple of games because of Sarfaraz), otherwise those 2 would've been lost as well.........

NONE of these batsmen have any skills at all. No confidence, no skill, no footwork, give easy catches away.
You're not winning any WC's anytime soon with the names that keep popping up......all have been tried and failed miserably.

These boys don't know how to play the Australian ball. They're used to the red ball......

Re: Why Fawad and other good players weren't selected?

Well it has a lot to do with racial discrimination and poor mindset than anything else.

All the tried and tested samples (Malik/Kamran/Asad/Umar....) all somehow belong to the Punjabi parts, and fawad/sarfraz etc are karachi and other parts...

Our very highly extremely immeasurably talented coach Mr. your highness the most kind and clever yet adequately immoral Waqar younus is a text book cover of coaching for dummies-absent. With over 40 media managers...several selectors and moreover muscial chair farce between our chairmen who have never held a bat in their hands, nor elsewhere... and blah blah what the hell shut up yaho enough ur bull crap it doesnt matter anyways so die u moron die die dieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Re: Why Fawad and other good players weren't selected?

Poster 4 is really peeved. But he did use Misbah AND Foundation in the same post

All is well.

Re: Why Fawad and other good players weren't selected?

So in Pakistan they play with red ball? Fawad is just a symbol of injustice now, its not about just Fawad.
