I don’t because gupshup gives guppies a certain personality that basically are derived assumptions based on their interaction with others in the forum and their ideas about life in general. Also, not showing the picture associates a certain level of mystery with the nick which mostly keeps people interested.
Like, I always wondered what MiniMe or myvoice look like, most probably they are in their 40s, with age taking it’s obvious toll and probably wear glasses with Minime bhaijaan having some facial hair and myvoice having no hair left on the head.
But most often these assumptions aren’t true. Like when I met Faisal bhai .. he turned out to be younger than I expected. If I ever get to meet people like Zakk or Shahreen I am sure they will turn out to be younger than what I have in mind. And I always thought DesiMunda will be nerdy looking kid who won’t have any flesh on his bones and with teeth bigger than his nose but from his picture he is a size of a linebacker and if I ever meet him I will try to lower my voice and try not to offend him, cos he sure can kick my behind.
I also admit that I am self-conscious and think that guppies will probably not like my picture. I mean who will read my responses if they found out that I am short, stocky, excessively over weight, almost bald guy who wears glasses thicker than the magnifying glass, right?
I also understand those female guppies who don’t show their picture because they take hijab or do not think it is appropriate for a ‘good girl’ to be showing her picture to ‘na-mahrem’ people.
But I would really like to know what the guys are thinking when they post their pictures with their faces blanked out? Their pictures usually comes across as a cheap Pakistani poster for men’s clothing. And what can be more annoying than the picture that stays up for only a few hours. Well, that is if you didn’t get to catch it before it got removed.
So, why don’t you post your picture?
Disclaimer: This is not to encourage people in posting their pictures, nor is this thread related to any specific incident, so please don’t start throwing ganday unday and tamatar.
Theres got to me more reasons than what I listed. I mean why would someone post the picture of their whole self but not the face or for only a few minutes/hours.
Theres simply no need for it, people everywhere on the internet are going to judge you on your opinions, they way you articulate, your misspellings and so on, is there really a need to allow people to judge you on your looks?
I think pictures lie a great deal, they say very little about the person and you never really know a person untill you'v met them or maybes even lived with them. Plus i dont trust what people can do with your picture. Trust no one :)
Miss_M, I do trust a lot of guppies .. and trust on gupshup is no different than trust in real life.
MQ, I agree it does add to suspense and maybe a bucket load of PM requests? :D
Kaleem Bhai, Until I saw your picture, I always thought you were a short, balloon looking typical Texas republican. But with the right amount of weed in your system, I am sure you can blend in with the green party.
