Your parents chose your real name.
Here you get an opportunity to choose
what you are called.

nadeem, i hope u r speaking for urself here. i think we Pakistanies have more respect for women who deserve respect.

secondly, ladies how can u blame Pakistani guys for trying? I think it reflects more than anything, how scarcely available are opportunties to talk to Pakistani girls.

kohal Is it a sarcastic comment???? I was serious in writing that. BTW for this sort of thinking...all this credit goes to a girl who has taught me this lesson.

mundyaa Je..

no no Nadeem, i wasn't being sarcastic at all. for real - :)

Salaam everyone

Lots of great replies from all of you :). Well, here is mine:

The reason why I don’t use my real name on net is simply that I don’t trust people and I think it is irrelevant for others to know! I know that not everyone is bad and some can be trusted but on the other hand not everyone is kind and to be trusted on

http://www.pak.org/gupshup/frown.gif

. Another reason is that I have had bad experience on net, which is why I don’t tell anyone my real name any more.

And besides does name really matter??? I don’t think it matters if your name is A or B, it doesn’t make any difference to your personality or does it? Name is simply a help for others with which they are able to refer to you. Reality is that your name is more used by others than yourself. Cause it is a form of identity, just like every house has a number, every object has a name and every thing in this world is described with a word. Name is a word describing us, not for who we are or how we are but to differentiate us from others.

Bottom line is that name doesn’t matter - not on net. I don’t think that on such forums there is any need for everyone to know each others names, I mean why??? You could as well know everyones favourite colour or something else about a person! That won’t change the personality of anyone and that won’t make any difference other than you are able to differ this person from other people.

I have often met guys on chat who ask for my real name and I simply tell them that I don’t want to tell and that they should respect my decision. Some do but some don’t want to talk to me cause of that! Well, I think these guys are not worth talking to if all they are interested in is my name, a word and not me as a person!

So the conclusion is I guess that I don’t think name is of any other importance and use than to differ people here on net. In real life it is another situation. I believe that names do have an effect on people and therefore parents often consider so many names before choosing one for their children, but that is in real life with close persons. We are on net, in a different reality, a different world with different people from different places with different names… what does it matter as long as you are able to communicate with them and understand them? Or is name really of greater importance than that? For me it isn’t!

Brothers and Sisters

If every brother sees every other girl as his sister and every girl sees every boy as her brother than this changing of name issue will not occur. That's what Islam tells us about but for the person who understands it?

Abdul Mughal bhai,
please come out of your utopian world. The ground realities aren't that simple as to conclude them in a couple of sentences as you did.

KK Brother
As a matter of fact we're changed being a Muslmm but, on the other side the basics and rules set by Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Allah (SWT) aren't changed.

We have to consider one thing suppose If we're going from one town to the other town. We'll service our car perform different types of checks, Engine oil, Water and different sorts of things.

That journey only last for probably couple of hour or couple of days and on the other side there is no turning back. There are no services for refilling or coming back for performing better for another life.

Wa Salaam

NYAhmadiJinab, when some talks about some religious personalities, it would be better to understand the person, instead of making fun out of him.

In modern world it is called "Freedom of Speech" and I believe that like others You are also one of the strong supporter of this freedom.

Mahmood and All Concerned,

Kaheta hay jokar sara zamana,
Aadhi haqiqat aadha fasana,

Chashma utaro phir dekho yaro,

There is another one, for people who hide their actual identity

Jab hi chahain ik naee soorat bana latay hain log

Ek chehray par kayee chehray saja latain hain log

Dear Nadeem, who is the religious one? And what has freedom of speech got to do with that? I am a little perplexed. Help me.

why this whole discussion keeps on bending towards the issue of girls and guys (or btothers and sisters). There are more guys on this forum not using their 'real' name than the girls!!!!!!!
