Why don't guys talk about their emotions?

Are you lot really that tough? I’m just wondering. There’s a friend of mine whos parents are divorced, hes the only child. His father has a new wife and a child, which means he has a step brother 22 years younger than him. His dad is a real ass hole, doesnt support him financially and does other idiotic stuff. His mum is single, working as a doctor in another country.

Now my friend, is just an amazing person, regardless of all the stuff hes been through. Hes a very hard worker, straight A student on a scholarship, very disciplined, nice person, good friend etc. Today, after all this time I told him I think hes very strong and was asking him how all his experiences would affect him in the future, when it comes to getting married, having kids etc. He sort of brushed it aside, and I didnt push.

What I want to know is, how do males deal with emotional issues? You dont talk to your mates, dont talk to female friends. Dont you just become one huge emotional bag waiting to burst???

cat, half the female nicks on this forum who post in health and relationships about their feelings are actually guys.

including nacheez.

I knew it Irem, you're a dude!! ack! :)

It all has to do with how we are brought up by our parents and also the society around us. We are always told to “suck up” and “don’t be cryin’ like a girl” etc. It is not expected by us to share our problems, though some guys do it anyway.

cat :D

waise this a misconception that guys dont share their feelings :) its not true yaar. u cant generalise guys and girls like that. there r all types of guys and girls :)

^ I suppose so, but 90% of the time they don't talk about whats deep in their hearts. They cover it up with childish jokes and arb chit chat. What is the channel of venting? I want to know!

In this case I know that I am one of his good friends, but I can't say Ive ever seen him in a 'sad' state. He'll just say things like "my father is pissing me off again".

I have a question about men:

Why do men play stupid head games? What do you lot think you will achieve by playing games?

^ Women can also be bad at that. People who play mind games are childish and insecure. I've met wierdos who have messed with my head. And in the end it just came to me that they are infact insecure and want to see how much mental leverage they can have over someone. Its totally screwed up.

MehnazQ: we play games for enjoyment like they way u girls do gossip etc .. it's soo much more fun and u can actually wack your enemies

and the rest of the girl gang: well we dont share our emotions coz, u girls depends on us na :p so we always have to look strong na, so much pressure on us poor old guys :'(

Men are very bad at showing their inner feelings. When you girls get married and live with one, you will definitely understand what I mean. They don't change. I think its an ego thing, maybe by showing their emotions they feel they are being a weak individual. Women on the other hand are the opposite. It's ALL about feelings. All the time..

For amusement, usually.

I'd say it's cause it's not fun to talk about feelings. It's more fun to tell bad jokes.

^ woohoo! me too. Men are a waste of time I tell you. They're insecure fukwits!!

Well my mr.wonderful does talk once in a while..when I shut up :D.

I think though that we ladies are more articulate about our feelings... the last time my mister told me something emotional he was in tears and a blubbering wreck!

^ wow. Now you see if a guy started crying in my presence, id start looking for a place to run. So maybe its good in a way that they suppress their feelings. :mudhosh:

once a male cousin told me he cried during Titanic. I was like kekekekeke!! :hehe:

Ohh I actually liked it that he cried… :hehe: made me feel stronger and “in control” for some reason.

Only fags talk about their emotions and cry. :nono:

Well then I be in love with a fag :D
