There is not 1, I repeat not 1, Desi in the English Premier League and yet there is a very strong representation of Desis in Cricket.

Why is that?

Its in blood, you won't understand the passion, unless you have hit a six on long off or bowled at 80mph in neighbourhood park/ground.
You gotta feel ecstasy, otherwise you won't feel difference b/w a baseball passion and cricket maddness.

I think we should support some indigenous sports like Kabaddi.
Kabaddi has been our sport in south asia, and we are very good at it. India, Pak, Nepal and Bangladesh have very good teams of Kabaddi.
And it also gives strong sense of attachment as being our own sport rather than a colonial era British Imperial symbol.

But, if you will ask for Soccer or any other sport in place of Cricket, then Cricket is much much better!!

Well people in all the former colonies of UK like cricket because it was promoted as 'Gentlemen's game'...as a part of the overall strategy of conveying to the world that English society is the best..English succeeded in changing the mindset of people in these colonies to quite an extent.

In my opinion it is a lousy and lazy game. Real team performance can bee seen in soccer, hockey etc. in just 90 minutes.

When I was younger me and my Pops never sat down together to watch soccer, however I do remember watching the cricket together when it was on, especially if pakistan were playing. I just wasn't big on soccer.
My eldest has all the soccer kit, but any free time we get, he would much rather play cricket.
I remember the championship had an initiative targeting asian school kids not to sure about the premiership.

Because playing multiple games would mean that we suck in multiple sports instead of just one, which would be unbearable!

most of the scottish pakistanis i know are more passionate about football than cricket and some are very good at it. its sad to see the lack of them in the premiership. NOT EVEN ONE EVER!!!!!!

they say its discrimination against them and i agree with that because i am sure there must be a few pakis who are good enough to play in the premiership!

Correction my friend....its not in our blood... we were given and over dosage of cricket serum in year 1992, followed by the extreme over confidence.

because it is only we who play it:D ......and yeah, send a recommendation to the olympic committee to include it in the olympics given by the huuuugeee popularity it enjoys everywhere:D .........

Pakistanis are good players of Squash. I play regularly as well.

We used to play hockey a lot as well.

Its your view point. Its not given, but adopting, as soccer or any other game has been adopted and loved by hundreds of nation who didn't invent it. A game is game, its not anyone's property.

Here we are not talking about Pakistan team or our glorious days in past. Here we're talking of a kid who has football, hockey, tennis, squash and boxing as choices, hence he decides to take on cricket. If you have never played cricket, you won't understand as I said. Its fun playing cricket.

I have played, Ludo, Kayrum (sp?), baraf paani, ooNch neech, pakRam pakRaai, laNgRi paalaa, pehl dooj, Empress Bhanda, PiThu baari, Chai kee piyaaLi posham Posh, ghoRaa jamaaL shaahi, Naam cheez jagah jaanwar, cheel uRi etc. etc.

EDIT: forgot to add Maaram peeTi (with bald tennis ball)

I use to box. I have trained with canadian olympic team too.
I use to play football in pakistan(for fun).
