Why doesn't Gupshup do something worthwhile

I know all of us are meant to help the poor and needy an example would be the palestinian cause. Those people have basically been cut off from the rest of the world for a number of months now and I saw a picture of them just crying,

Children crying
Women crying

I gave a donation and gave one last month too. I’m not advertising it or anything but I feel everyone should do their own little bit.

However some people need to be inititaed, sometimes even shocked into giving charity. I wouldnt have given any money had I not been aware of what was going on.

Since there is a very large community of us over here on Gupshup why doesn’t Gupshup introduce some sort of charity. So every once every month, everyone gets together and donates a small amount of money for a certain cause.

if there are 200 members, each one gives something like £10.00 (Ten Pounds or equivalent) thats £2,000…

That will go a long way, so Why doesn’t Gupshup initiate something like this…It would be worthwhile…

Ofcourse some people will say well everyone should just give it in their own way but it would be convenient since a lot of the people are here every day and it would be interesting to see how much we can actually donate every month…

What do you all say?

This is a nice idea, however, it'll get very political very quickly. The way its done on GS now is perhaps more appropriate. There are fora where disasters and conflicts are discussed so one can't miss 'happenings' around the globe. Also every once in a while there's a sticky thread with information about charity organizations, so one can just pick any.

Waise, in these times perhaps its not the wisest idea to collect money in an organized manner for any Muslim country. Personally I would only send it to NGOs approved by government.
