We recently got the Lysol automatic spray air freshener to go in the bathroom where all the dirty diapers go. Let me tell you, that thing is a miracle! I think if it can handle the dirty diaper smell, the salan smell should be a breeze!

I have scent diffusers all over the place, and oil burners - seem to do the trick. I do also keep windows open when cooking.

OK, the real deal. 2 box fans, one facing inside of the house, bringing fresh air in, the other facing outside, placed on two opposite windows that are in the close proximity of the kitchen.
Also, avoid cooking food after maghrib. Best times is around 2 PM when the sunshine is at its peak.
And no Agar Batti please.
No I mean i Just cant smell the food anywhere in my apartment!!!
I don’t see people shrinking away from me and running away from me in horror. so maybe i dont stink that bad? 
Food smells don’t really bother me.
The only time I make an effort to get rid of the “smell” is when something gets burnt and i dont want hubby to find out

I am sooooo paranoid about my house stinking of curry after I cook lol.
I normally open all the windows in the kitchen and have the blower fan on full and I NEVER open the kitchen door when i'm cooking so the smell usually goes. Then I go a bit crazy with the air freshner and keep the windows open for another hour and the door shut. Alhamdulillah it works every time and you can never smell salan/food cooking in my house unless you are in the kitchen.
I suggest , as I have used it for many years and it works great to curb the food smell.
I buy it from Sams Club , it should be available at other big box stores too. It will be expensive if you buy it from retail store, so try to buy it from some Consumer club or big box store.

What do you do if you have an open kitchen? with dining/living right there :(
normally cooking smell doesnt bother me...let's the guests know what they are having for dinner :) why is it that the rice usually has strong smell...i can smell the pilao cooking soon as I enter my mom's house?

I use scented oils from Body shop.... I buy in bulk when they are on sale, totally worth it..... 2 minute mein saaray ghar mein khusbhoo ho jaati hai :D

Can you recommend some good oud either from ajmal, syed junaid alam or asghar ali....
I love it that all my arab friends smell of oud and even their smell sweats of oud.... the oud I burn in my home just doesn't last that long...
I love it that when u enter an arab's home, they are always smelling of oud...love that... pls share some tips of how my home can smell of oud ...even on the days and times I'm not using it....
I use bukhoor/oud sprays for my furniture and linen.. (Ajmal).
One I burn daily is from Swiss Arabian called 'Mabsoos Lailat el-umar'. It masks all smells including fish/prawn masala and a very pungent biryani!
Arab men and women, use oud smoke to scent their hair and clothes :)

I think it's available all over the Gulf, I'm not too sure though. Automne you do it for a couple of days..you too will smell like oud.
