Who said it only exists in punjab and that too only in lahore? You will find a red light area pretty much in every city...be it a small city or big.
I am sure world has better things to think about. Anyway, these areas are funded by resourceful people who have strong links with people in power, so it is not easy to abolish them.

The exploitation of women is an extremely important thing for the world to worry about. Women are the givers are life. They raise our new generations. They are important human beings. They are vulnerable. They are precious.

If they really care then they need to do something about it, take steps to reduce or abolish it. Just thinking won't change anything.

In early Zia years, attempts were made to close down the red-light area (hira mandi) which was the focal point of mujras (female dancers) and prostitution. The move back-fired, as many female dancers left the area and settled in other parts of the city (making this a more pervasive issue); and the government was never able to close down the mujra scene in hira mandi, anyway.
Not to bore down this topic, but if you search "mujra" on Gupshup, you will see a lot of discussions on this topic. Its history and its drivers. A lot of people will disagree with you that its disgusting or degrading. In face the song and dance scenes in pretty much all of Pakistani movies are but just a cheap form of mujra. Apparently movie-going crowds love them. Not that it justifies anything or proves any point. :)

Do you not realize that these girls are born into brothels, that they are taught from an early age that the only way they can make it in the world is to sell their bodies? Do you not realize that they have no other choice? Seriously, are you freaking blind?
Don't you realize that beyond the borders of a brothel, nearly 90% of girls who become prostitutes were either sexually abused or raped prior to becoming prostitutes?
I mean, honestly. Do you just hate women, or do you just lack a soul?
This kind of thinking is destructive, and abusive in itself. If you think it's not a big deal that little girls are raped and sold and have no escape then you've got some serious issues.

They do have other choices, no I'm not 'freaking' blind. I don't hate women at all, and no I don't lack a soul.
Instead of being all preachy and thinking that you're so good and pretending to take the high road on the issue, I seriously suggest that you go and read the legal issues that involve cracking down on this sort of stuff.
And please provide a linked source to the 90% figure you posted, as the unesco website does not agree with what you have posted. It gives China as an example, and states how women are choosing to 'offer' sexual services instead of working in the factories and earning a lot less.
You're going Al gore over an issue that everyone knows cant be solved, unless you ignore basic human rights, all sorts of women's rights, freedom of speech and expression (dont know if this exists in Pakistan, but the former do). I really cant be bothered to type a crap load of stuff about this, just google it and you'l see how complex it is.
I personally am of the same opinion as you are, it is disgusting, degrading and women should not partake in such immoral activities.

"Choice" is not really the issue.. If women are chosing prostitution over working in factories...then I question the conditions of the factories..I question what really is going on in society that women "chose" to be prostitutes? Many have been abused..many have only known this type of environment...and yes I think a few have chosen it...
One has to look beyond the surface....

actually i was talking about the public dancing done on stage shows and stuff..its even done by known actresses like nargis and veena.. now actresses make enough money(iv seen nargis's house)..they dont need to sell their bodies theyv got enough doe..so why are they doing this public cheap dancing..?..

Its an experience every curious person should have. People involved in the industry are like thousands or even more.

As a poster said government and others are involved.
No one take interest in stop women being degraded cause its mens world. Yeah these mens are degrading them and using them for their joy so why would they stop them.
