I don't understant one thing, Psyah! Why should Quran or Hadiths, as the one you narrated, talk ambiguously to leave the need for ijtihad if the aim is the clear guidence of the people?
Secondly, Hadith is not the original source of theological inference or guidence. Quran has unequovcally mentioned iftar.
Thirdly, it is the same attitude as of clergy during Reniasance in Europe when they first resisted science, but when science became the predominent way of inquiry, they started claiming that what science says is already there in the Bible.
If what science has discovered or will discover is already there in Quran, then any Mullah Tullah should tell me from Quran right now what science has to discover in future.
In fact, religion doesn't answer the fundamental question..rather it reduces it to a yet a higher level of abstraction i.e. "God", "Allah", or "Khuda", etc.
