Baharain and Saudi have huge Shia populations that the ruiling elite need to supress…but then, they fear and supress Islamists who don’t follow the party line just as much…so I wonder if they are relaly anti-Shia at all.

Shias and Islamists are different. Ask any Shia, they know more than you, and they can tell you if Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are anti-Shia or not.
