Re: Why does God...
Well, some of the **** we go through...is due to our own wrong-doings.
Re: Why does God...
It is a good question but does not have a good answer. As a believer I have come up with my own philosophical answer.
Allah created us , gave us free will and that free will needed to be put to test to be true free will. Now question arises Allah is all knowing why does he not know , what one is going to do with his free will . Right ? So my answer is Allah is kullay shayn Qadeer ( Allah is capable of everything) so Allah did not want to know the outcome of my free will in advance so Allah created this free will and outcome in this manner where Allah wanted to test me and find out the result after the fact. May be , may be not. This satisfies my curiosity , so be it.
One Shair says :
rukh-e-roshan k agay, SHAMA rakh ker wo kehte hein
idher ata he , dekhen ya, udhar jata he parwana

Well I believe the answer is present in many religious scriptures … it is also present in common sense. Why do we test ourselves? It is to determine who has the best ability or understanding in a particular topic. A person who is a grade A student will not be given the same reward as a grade C student … Likewise … The reason why we are tried (or tested) is as it says in the Bible …
To separate the wheat from the chaff
Chaff is the “chilka” around the wheat grain and when the wheat is harvested then the chilka is still stuck to the wheat, so the workers will rub the wheat and the chilka will come loose but it will be mixed in … just like with peanuts the light brown peanuts will be mixed with the red papery skin … but with wheat they traditionally get these huge trays and after rubbing they throw the wheat into the air and allow it fall to the ground the chilka flies up and the grain falls to the floor … the grain is then swept to the barn and the chilka is swept away and put into the fire heap … you can see the metaphor come up when you consider the** barn** being paradise.
S](Matthew 3:12 His winnowing fork is in His hand to clear His threshing floor and to gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.")o the reasons stem on to the idea of Allah (SWT) showing the universe that He forgives and is Merciful in His Judgement and Bountiful in his Gifts and Just with His Punishments … all of which would not be known to creation had He not created a being that was not tested.

Sometimes when we don't do nice things or if we felt we should be doing more and get distracted less it is a symptom of feeling guilty ... the statement above is not one of a person with low faith ... People with low faith don't wish to have stronger faith ... cheer up and May Allah (SWT) give you comfort in your faith ... and fulfil your wish ... Sometimes taqwa is not there, but as long as you continue to do what is right then perhaps one day the feeling of faith will enter the heart ... as well as the faith itself.
In a jum'a recently we were told - conviction of beliefs goes up and down - the fact that it is present in our scriptures should itself be a comforting factor. Christians for example don't have such a statement in their scriptures that provides them comfort when they feel weaker in faith ... guilt is actually the path to seeking sincere forgiveness and then after seeking that we should purge our hearts of guilt and focus on improving our condition both internally and externally ...
And if it becomes really challenging then toy with the alternatives ... should you believe there is no God? should you believe there are many? Then you will soon come to realise that despite the distraction you are a still a person of faith.
