Probably He:swt: wants humans to pray so that they do not forget that He:swt: exists and remembering that helps them remembering His:swt: commands.
So, you see, it’s not Him:swt: who needs prayers; It’s us the foolish humans who are in dire need

I think AQ is quite right. (To the others, Verizon saab is asking this question quite sincerely) Anyway, when you pray and after you pray, you are closer to Allah/God, you remember what it is that He wants you to be, how it is that He wants you to be. It keeps us in line and helps us remember our duties to Him and to our fellow humans. If you never pray, never go to a Holy place (church, mosque whatever), you forget and are so much more likely to go astray, thats just human nature.

Each prayer wipes out any sins youve comitted since the last prayer (every couple a hours). Apart from that it constantly reminds you of your insignificant spot in this universe. Puts everything into perspective like...

Let me steer you lemmings back to the question. I know why we pray. My question is why does God want humans to pray and why does he keeps reminding humans to pray in all religious books? Why what is the reason. It is repeated over and over and over and over again to pray, pray pray. I mean praying from the holy book prespective is a full time job. My question again is why does god want humans to pray?

MamaO3, actually there is no proof that people go astray if they do not pray to god. Just as there are examples of godless heathens, they are multitudes of godfearing heathens, who are more dangerous.
God is a lovng entity, if you take care of your self and others…that is prayer enough. No amount of prostration can ever measure up to that.
MQ, Do a search on Gupshup as to what someone might find offensive. 
In my opinion, God, if requiring prayer, is an attention hungry child. God is about love, not fear.

He wants us to pray so that we remember Him and what it is He wants us to do, what it is He wants us to be...praying often makes us remember.

God has prescribed prayers as a channel to communicate with Him and allow humans to clear their conscience. Mr Verizon, if you haven’t committed enough sins or don’t see a need for communication with your creator then you may find this channel hard to comprehend. Like people have mentioned above…god doesn’t need your prayers…he wants you to pray…there is a slight difference.

Yes thats what I mean. God is omnipotent and humans are like atoms in the scale of things(not just planet earth the whole universe. I mean he created us, he has the power to give life and take away life. Allah(swt) says “Be, and it is”. so why such a powerful entity demanding prayer from humans.

But we wouldnt know we were insignificant nothings unless we knew God was up there demanding our prayers. And I think the prayers are not because God needs them, but because we do.
Its to help us that God doesnt need us, we need Him. Plus if people were not commanded to do so can you imagine what the world would be like. Complete chaos I tell you.
