A good video to watch for both believers and non-believers. So why do you believe your religion is true? Watch this video and post your replies.
Re: Why do you believe your religion is true?
Such a dumb person (the narrator)!
Trying to show that he himself somehow is impartial, rationale and also more importantly in the name of being ‘smart’ as ‘someone who found truth or fact’,
…this person actually is trying to make people to do what he himself (supposedly) did…Reject Islam!
One answer to him.
Go sell it to someone else dude! These gimmicks and tricks are getting boring. ![]()

Ok I watched the video and it appears he is right in some things, but his conclusions are unsound. First of all he believes that emotional and irrational reasons for supporting a religion are not important. I believe they are important. He wants us to acknowledge that we have emotional attachment to our faiths - I acknowledge that but that does not change my reasoning. He tried to show that emotion is at loggerheads with reason but that is not true. There are plenty of irrational illogical things well defined within the bounds of reason. For example ... The statement "no human can live forever" this is a reasoned statement although it is impossible to verify and hence cannot be proven. It is based purely on the idea that all humans so far have died therefore by analogy which is not logical one concludes that such and such ...
Another mistake that he made was to use the spread of people around the world as his basis to argue that people create bias in the religions that they are born in. That may well be the case on the whole. However he failed to analyse the types of people who convert from one faith to another in more detail. For example the converts to Islam amongst convicts and normal people are the clergy of other faith groups. It has never been heard that the clergy of Islam has done the same for another religion.
Although we choose religion on the whole for emotional reasons it does not mean that we cannot compare each faith on a rational basis. Islam by far out shines the others in it's ability for rational evidence of its own truth. To demonstrate this many people have commented on that. But there are sound reasoning in the domain of "not logical" works that point towards the truth of Islam - for example when unbiased works are undertaken over who was the most successful leader of all time when non-Muslims arrive at the answer Muhammad (SAW) on a regular basis we should consider that as a valid reason for the truth of Islam.
If humans as he say are so inclined to emotional attachment then the same can be said about his attachment to being irreligious ... However if on the other hand I compare morality of being religious to the morality of not being so I see there is every reason to remain religious. This is another "reasonable" basis for choosing faith. I mean when religion says "thou shall not commit adultery" it makes good sense as to why that is wise. However being without religion people will stumble around searching for what is better - if they follow their desires without submitting themselves to a set of moral rules then they will end up committing adultery and ruining people's lives possibly their own. There is a certain myopia in irreligious people who believe that being religious is wrong - but they cannot see that the very emotional reasons and irrational reasons they reject are telling them that it is wrong. When they reject those things they fall prey to the emotionless devices of logic and will fall in to disarray as a result because logic is not a wise instrument it can only tell what something is when you can see it there and then.
There seems to be no risk analysis being undertaken by atheists.
