You completely missed the point. It has nothing to do with it being taboo.
It has everything to do with HIS question being pointless in the first place. WHY do we even CARE how common it is? Why do we want to know how many people have committed this sin? WHY WHY WHY? WHO GIVES A FLYING you know what.
Anyhow, I've asked for this thread to be closed. Mods please close it. There are a few people who actually understood and got the point I was trying to make.

fornication and most other sins have ALWAYS been around.

What led you to that incorrect assumption? The use of the word "increase" or saying that certain sins will increase as the Last Hour approaches does not imply a previous non-existence of the sins.

i think he was genuinely interested in seeing the response. and there are plenty of other threads which are completely pointless as well. every other thread is about MIL, FIL, SIL, DIL. the fornication thread was actually something a bit different than whats been discussed over and over.
you might not care to know about fornication in pakistan but maybe there are other who would like to give their insights on what they know or what they expected. and if you dont care about it, there is no reason for you to start a thread just bashing that thread. if someone doesn't care about a thread, they should ignore it. but its unfair to ask someone not to post something because it makes you or anyone else uncomfortable.

The reason I started the thread was that recently i came across few threads where some posters gave an impression as if fornication has become a usual thing, like, everyone does it but on the surface all try to be all pious and prude. I felt this was not the case, and that a good majority of Pakistanis do not indulge in it. So I wanted to know if thats just my impression or is it what most people think. And from the replies I felt, most agreed with me.

This is a public forum... Gupshup... idle chit chat... people are free to ask pretty much anything they want. If someone wants to ask a question about fornication on here, then they're free to do so. If someone else takes offence to that question, then they're free to ignore it. They're also free to ask their own questions, it's all about choice.
Not all Pakistanis are the same, we don't all think the same way, we don't all have the same lives, the same upbringing, the same set of views or the same moral compass. Yes fornication is haram but that doesn't mean Pakistanis don't indulge in it. Some do, some don't. Just because something is haram does not mean it is forbidden to discuss it. Discussing it does not mean everyone joining in the discussion approves of it.
Why pretend some Pakistanis don't fornicate, or drink, or take drugs, or gamble, or rape children? What will we achieve by sweeping it under the carpet and pretending none of that occurs in Pakistan? Who are we trying to fool here? Trust me, in an age where a large part of the world thinks all Pakistanis are terrorists, a few fornicators amongst us is not going to reflect badly on us.

I am surprised at how many responses that thread got in the first place and how many people ACTUALLY attempted to answer the question. LAME! Every single one of you! LAME LAME LAME!
First of all, WHO GIVES A RATS BEHIND how common it is? WHY do you care? Is it so you can go "HAW HAI it is 50% omg...what has this world come to?"

How about you get a flippin hobby or better yet....go and spend the time reading namaz and asking for forgiveness from Allah for even asking such questions in the first place?
Fornication is a SIN...yes we all get it. But what is also a SIN is saying "oh I had 2 friends in college and they slept with their boyfriends" or asking "hey how many people are committing fornication...do you know any real people that did? do tell do tell!"
We are not supposed to expose others' sins...that is a sin in itself...don't you know that?

i strongly agree with u candy.... 2ndly i personally felt that this forum may have people from other religions n nationalities as well.. why just like our media , we publish such bull**** posts portraying a very bad image of muslims? n seriously i wuz stunned ppls responses with mentioning a high percentage.. in real its absolutely not common...
This is a very curious viewpoint. So the reason it's bad to discuss this is not that it might be true that muslims who are supposed to avoid fornication are indulging in it. Rather, it's because it projects a bad image of muslims.
