So, we have fought four wars with our neighbors (including Kargil); we lost East Pakistan because of them; we can't retain our riteful land in Kashmir; we don't agree with their religous belifs. Yet, we continue to admire their celebrities, we invite them to our land and promote their movies, we say we're just like them when we're NOT.

So I ask, WHY? Why do the many people here on GS don't want to admit our dislike for them?

Mods: Please don't shut this thread down; Im trying to get some honest answers here. I promise there won't be any hateful remarks from my end.

Lets have a solid discussion here folks.

the fundamental belief of islam will absolutely be questioned because: #1 most americans don't even know the basic principles of islam #2 most americans cannot separate current world events from the religion #3 islam, right now, is being poorly represented by muslims that don't understand their own religion.

I have merely just stated facts about hinduism. I have not made up things or fabricated actual practices. Now, if you feel some of what I have stated as insulting then you subconsciously agree that those practices are ridicoulas and in doing so you have proved my point of Hinduism being laughed at.

lets say, for the sake of this argument, hinduism is being laughed at.......if hinduism is being laughed at, what do you think is happening to islam.......they are doing much worse than laughing at islam

and you know where you are insulting hinduism........hinduism is more than just worshipping monkeys.......you are talking about a man's religion, even though its inaccurate, a man will always hold his religion dearly, and you have no right to disrespect that.

I think they’ll say they’ve never heard of this.. lots of non-desis find the whole spiritual aspect of Hinduism enticing.. and although you dont agree with their beliefs, it gives you no right to talk abt their religion like that. Ive never really said anythin abt this but I find it amazing that ppl who cry “respect for Muslims!!” cudnt give two sh!ts about respect for anyone else.. n btw, Hinduism is as much about drinkin cow urine as Islam is about blowing yourself up for “72 virgins” or killing grlz coz they lost the family izzat.

Ask around, many hindus think of cow's urine as good luck or something; I have asked many and they have admitted this to me. Infact, one of India's political leaders drank cow urine in front of the media and all the press people started applauding. So buddy, I think you need to do more research. Also, I was watching "Ripley's believe it or not" one time and they showed this hindu drinking milk out of a bowl from which hundred's of rats were drinking from; they guy said it was good luck. I'm not insulting; I'm just throwing the facts out there. The thing is, these practices are so "out of left field" (for lack of a better term) that they sound like insults.

Again, I'm just relaying the facts as I've seen them.

I don't get it; why are these issues considered so taboo? Lets openly talk about these things. My whole point was that we have so many differences with our neighbors yet we continue to play these friendship games. I'm not saying lets start a full fledge war against them, but lets not be buddy budy either. In my mind the differences are overwhelming.

This thread is going off topic; its not about religous differences but rather its about how and why Pakistanis are so infatuated with Indian culture. Pakistan is a distinct country with its own values and traditions which have been inspired by the teachings of Islam. We must preserve our conservative ways as we move into the future.

This thread is going off topic; its not about religous differences but rather its about how and why Pakistanis are so infatuated with Indian culture. Pakistan is a distinct country with its own values and traditions which have been inspired by the teachings of Islam. We must preserve our conservative ways as we move into the future.

The only thing constant in life is change itself. Let the values and traditions work for the society rather than you working to preseve them. If these values are good they will be preserved and you will not be able to change them, and if they are not good then you cannot preserve them, however hard you try.
