Why do they take away your passport during Hajj?

I havent heard of any passports being lost.

I may be wrong, but during Hajj, a lot of people pass away, meaning they get crushed to death, yadda, yadda, yadda - so maybe is to identify those who dont pick up their passports after a certain amount of time???

its to stop ppl from going to other cities apart from mecca like most ppl do using the excuse of hajj to get into saudi arabia

Hmmmmm.... but once you are in Saudi Arabia, you dont need a passport to enter other cities within Saudi Arabia.... do you? Oh yeah - I think they have a special Visa category for Hajj and only allows you to go to Hajj and not other parts of Saudi Arabia.... i see i see.....

Yes they do take away the passport and its very inconvenient. They did lose aunt's british passport. she was accompanying us ... we had to go through a hell...

Usually they are very rude on the airports especially with Pakistanis....

In saudi arabia, i would advise two things

  1. never wear shalwar kameez

  2. always speak in english.

and the reasons:

from my understanding they do it because the do not want us to escape...many people stay there and do not return..(thats what i have heard but i doubt it)

but to be honest they still have a mentality and a false superiority complex....

WOW!!! What happened? Did she get her passport back? Did she have to get another one?
