My dads friend got a phone call from Pakistan and was asked to send 500 pounds so that his 10,000 pounds (that he mysteriously won off somewhere) will be released to a western union account, he thought this was genuine!
Another so called friend - (with me being totally against it) is meeting someone he hardly knows, after talking to them for a whole day, for the sake of it from an online medium.
Zobia, the first is obviously a scam/fraudster - you need to pay money to get free money that you may have won?? whos heard of that notion!
Secondly you do not meet strange people off the internet who you have only known for a day - a days talking. They could be some crazed, delusional mental person!
hmm...i think there is lot more to both the stories. and if it is not then either its show-off and desperation for both the cases or either they both are stupid.
Save your sanity PO and leave the stupids to their stupidity otherwise you might end up like them.
In Urdu they say “kharboozay ko deekh k kharbooza rang pakarta hay.”
I've seen worse examples of this, PO. I also know that all of us have made blunders that reflect a lack of common sense or carelessness. I think the tactless mistakes where you carelessly and unkowingly offend someone are tough to deal with.....but if they're deliberate, that's even worse.

Have you encountered other incidents like this?
Sometimes we the things that seem very obvious to us rnt so simple for others. Its just the way we look at it. For some Physics in common sense for others waste good amount of time just getting Passing grades. Bring this to lower level and you see people doing wiered stuff in general e.g example of your uncle.
My friend moved from Pak to USA, He used other friends cell phone to call Pakistan directly from cell phone. To most of us living in usa its not normal but understanding calling system in Pak i think it wasnt his fault.

have heard such stories in past. Not only that people believe on such things to be true but if you try to explain them something wrong about it, they just become your enemy.
Yes it was - I newly joined ebay over a year ago, I know I took my time deciding if it was for me. Anyway I was selling my old ipod and this guy from Africa was trying to buy it, he sent me a highly laid out email, where he meticulously cut and paste all the relevant information trying to claim that he had deposited the money into my paypal account.
