So I went to pakistan not long ago and I was shocked at the way british pakistanis are portrayed or seen as there.
They think the girls have boyfriends who are of many different races which is seen as bad to them because they are not pakistani. They think that youngsters in UK only have british (white) friends and that theres no other races such as african, arabic etc. They think that young british pakistanis go partying every night, do sheesha, drugs, pregnancy outside wedlock, only speak english, wear revealing tight clothes and soemtimes not enough clothes. They also think that we know nothing about islam and don’t pray or read the quran and act like they do it all when they dont. They think that the girls are too liberal and given too much freedom to do what they wish. They think that we’re all stinking rich and rolling in money and amazing enormous houses with stashes and stashes of money. They think we’re all spoilt rich kids of rich parents!!..Im not saying this is wrong because there are a lot of british pakistanis that do do this but they don’t realise theres some that dont. They don’t realise that we do know our language (urdu) alongside english and that we do follow islam. They all seem to think we have some sort of alternative life here full of what I mentioned before and that when we go there (to visit pakistan) we act all innocent and like good kids as oppossed to the ‘bad’ liberal kids here who just go around drinking smoking and getting in relationships when this is no true at all in most cases!

Yeah. I think there is a revival of some sort in Islam in western Pakistanis.

It takes a minority of overseas Pakistanis to ruin the image of the entire community. Consider where they're getting this impression.
You can do your bit and undo that damage, and realign the correct image of Pakistanis regardless of where they are raised, or live.

Thats very true it makes me wonder at times as well i am from mix race but i brought up here in pakistan and you can call me a hard core pashtun. In school life my class mates used to doubt on my religion and other things like that , like you are open to flirt just because you are not a total desi.
Its just most of the people in pakistan are in the habbit of presuming things…

- and Most people do some of those if not all, there are very less people in actual who don't do any of those things..

I am nothing like what I described above, well the bad bits anyway but even if you tell them you're not like that they don't believe you. Gets on my nerves like nothing else. Also I see people there flaunting their bodies and not covering up etc and acting like what they think we act like here. Such hypocrites!

My cousins over there were telling me how these girls ran away from their homes because they fell in love with some random guy..wtffff?!?
They act like all that only happens here. My cousins told me about more horrible things happening there that I can't even tell anyone cos its that disgusting

That's too bad, Im sorry you had to go through all that. Some do have narrow minds and can't accept people that are not full pakistani. Believe me I know.
