sometimes they are not gossiping but telling the truth sometimes they are gossiping cuz they like attention sometimes they are gossiping cuz they like being dramatic sometimes they are gossiping cuz they have low self esteem sometimes they are gossiping cuz they have nothing better to do (some desi aunties)

too much time otn their hands or from what i've seen personally it's how they keep conversations going, people don't have much to talk about so they start talking about other people, and if their social skills are not up to par then gossiping helps to boost that up .

Where did i said .. guys never do? If you breakdown the time..
a guy would gossip for 2-3 minutes.. and he get headache, naturally.. a gal would gossip for 24 hours, .. and she get fresh, naturally...
