Everyone has different reasons. Some just cant think of anybody else but themselves.
Others realize a bit late that the commitment they got themselves into was a mistake and they want out.. and for many of this kind this usually happens when there's a better potential waiting. And they can get away with this without any accountability because, with the exception of marriage, all other commitments are just bogus. All this fiance wiance girlfriend boyfriend is a bunch of sugar coated bullshi|t.
If you're married and you cheat on your spouse, there is a special chittar waiting for you in jahannum that Allah mian will personally administer. But for all other relationships there really is no punishment except that of hurting someone else, which is a mere slap on the wrist compared to the former one.
Shadi karlo and even then if someone cheats on you then atleast you can rest assured kay us kee maa bhen aik hogee dozakh may.

For many reasons, to take revenge, use people, jealousy, etc etc . It depends!
Personally speaking, i dont like cheating on people, i try my best either to forgive those who have cheat on me or jus ignore them, thinking they will learn a lesson! No point stooping to their level.
However if its quite serious, then i leave no stone unturned to take my revenge! Sorry but these people needs to be shown their aukaat! No other option!
Becos they have no self-control!!

Didnt Oprah do a whole segment on this? She tried to find out the reasons behind cheating and not play the blame game.
According to her, people cheat because they find someone else who appreciates them. Most of the time, the cheaters are with people who are not better looking then their spouses but offer them reassurance, appreciation, affection, etc. Something the spouse stopped offering a while ago.

I dont mean to sound dirty, but primary reason for cheating could be between the legs.
Having said that, the reasons for cheating could vary significantly. Jealousy, misunderstanding, just the kicks of it, lack of self control and discipline, no chemistry with the partner, feeling ignored, or being just a butt head i.e. 'player' without realizing the possible outcomes.
