If by argument you mean debate, that is a good thing. (I have taught CM quite a few things with some heatlhy debates :))

I argue when I see things done in a manner - they arent supposed to be .... !
Arguments ending up with positive results agreeable/acceptable to all other parties involved are considered positive in my domain :)

To prove their superiority to the other. Winning an argument does make you feel very good about yourself, no matter how lame and needless the topic was to begin with.
Whoever wins the argument considers it to be a positive one.

Well said. Some people are in perpetual state of sickness that they feel the need to argue over everything and anything... winning or losing, mostly losing, is their last concern. Its safe to say, miserable people do argue a lot, over useless, far from reality nonsense.
