first of all after several explanations have been offered and people here instead of genuine inquisitiveness try to make a mockery out of everything then thats the way to answer, with the in your face kind of attitude.
Kumarkn:
There is no such thing as genetics being more biased to female chromosome selection, chances for both male and female fetuses are 50-50.
and to answer again,
*no we cant agree to women being married to 2 men
would you agree to eating your cows and rats after all they are getting fatter and the poor people more and more malnourished.
*monogamy is choice, having more than one wife is a privilege with conditions being met. Whatever has been made legal cant be made illegal.
*ask the women who cover themselves up.
What do you consider respectful? In africa women with large exposed buttocks is more respectful and in LA, a semi naked woman is considered HOT. In midwest and among the Amish it is almost the same criteria as Islam
*Men, dont cover their chests I guess you'll suggest females not cover their chest too.
Ask the jewish girls and nuns why they cover their chest.
Why so indian women like to go arounf naked? is it considered religious piety?
GO ahead brainwash all you ppl as you have been doing resulting in godhras and ayodhyas. Hope some one with atleast something in their brain is left.
Sultan toora! First of all, I would like humbly convey this to you!
Human chromosomes ARE biased in favour of women. In every developed country or socially developed societies of developing countries, women out number men.
If there were no honor killings or female infanticide in any part of the world, the number of women will be more than the number of men. That is the truth.
Read ANY scientific (I am afraid you don't know what it is) source you will know!
From your other comments I understand monogamy is a choice (for men) and having more than one partner is a privilege only for men.
Wah! I rest my case on how oppressed women are in Islamic societies!

Kumarkn, no need to get so abusive, it would reflect badly on you.
This is how it goes:
Females produce two germcells each with X chromosome. While male produces two germcells one with X and the other with Y chromosome.
COmbination of X and X gives rise to a female zygote and combination of X and Y to a female zygote. The determinig factor is actually the male germ cell. Chances of X or Y from a male germ cell fertilizing the X female germ cells are 50-50.
I hope this will make understanding scintific things easier for you.
In Quran, Allah gives the mother 3 times the status than that of a father, if you wanna argue that this ins ineqaulity..maybe it is.
Allah says that Paradise is under the feet of the mothers, I guess this is also an example of ineqaulity.
Males cant have the special prvilige given to women, for having an intimate relationship with the baby for 9 months and then suckling him/her. This is perhaps also inequality. Women during menses are excused from fasting and praying, perhaps this is also inequality..so on and so forth. There are wonderful cosmological and ontological arguments for both cases (i:e: are such things equality or inequality etc..) I wont bother with them.
I like your inquiries, you come with a mind set tht brahmanism/hinduism is wrong and preaches “actualu” “counter naturalist” inequalities, and hence is Islam the same religion?
Who knows may ALlah give you the light to see
If I noticed you on the streets of America wearing a Hijab, I would totally avoid speaking to you only because I would be afraid that you don't speak English.
I guess that might be a wrong assumption.
If women participate in sports can they ditch the religious dress for something more practicle?
first of all i am participating in many sports.. i always wear hijaab, never find it difficulty.
as far as swimming concerns yes my muslims friend do join swimming club which is reserved just for women so that there will be no na mehram who would see their body.
did i ans to you question.
Friendship is a precious gift from ALLAH, only lucky ppl have got this gift. And thank God, I am among those ppl
What about competitions? Do you compete on a team? Does everyone on the team wear the hear hijaab?
As for swimming what do Muslim women wear when competing in this sport? Would they ever shave their heads bald? I think it is so intimidating when a woman swimmer shaves her head. It seems that she is so focused on her performance and that she is above the pressure that society weighs on women to look nice all the time.
I think that is very cool to show that level of focus and determination.
I'm sorry, I feel that you took me a little wrong there. No I consider you muslim, heck i consider anyone muslim who has it in him/her to say that they're muslim. I dont judge based on what little i know.
Now getting back to the point of this thread, yes there is a lot more to being virtous, and I'm sure I made a point of that before as well. But I must say this again: Islam involves both physical AND spiritual sacrifices. Some things are 'fardh' for our benefit, and some are 'fardh' to check our obedience. Both fardh things have to be followed.
And 'beard' is not a part of 'hijab', Its another related order tho, related to the physical outlook of a Muslim, hence i mentioned it under the same context.
And its good to know that someone is taking Islam seriously, and not just being programmed by a book, by just reading the literal translation of it.
Kumarakn
You are such an idiot, you are stating the same points without saying anything in rebuttal to my post. What do you know about our religion to butt in into a religious debate? If you have anything important to offer, good, if not, then quit making fasad about how women should be allowed this and that.
MMike,
Women are allowed to swim, and participate in sports and such, not in a mixed gathering though.
Wah! I rest my case on how oppressed women are in Islamic societies!

This statement shows how ignorant you are about Islam. I don't mean to be rude , it's just that you know very little about Islam.
i am a muslim girl and I wonder why some ignorant people consider us oppressed.
I don't have much time to get in long details and discussion on this topics. You better search some more by yourself to know the truth.
But I would like to say that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world and there are more female converters than male convertors.
for example, In United States 30% muslims in average mosque are convertors and most of them are women ( do u think they converted to be oppressed???)
The mosque where I go to has so much converters that every other person seems to be a convertor.

v just know that v r muslims and v must hav to follow the teachings of Islam which is ofcourse a rite path...
Islam tells women to cover themselves not to expose themselves...As it is very clear in Surah-Nur...

Ooooow maaaan u REALLY need to study Islam some time yaar. I'm not saying that I'm an expert, but what u just said is just waaaaay too riddiculous!! Women are directed in the Qur'an when they appear in public to cover themselves in a modest type of dress so as not to attract men. Their beauty is to be shown only and ONLY to their husbands!
Sorry guys, we muslimahs love wearing hijab. We feel more safe, and less people commenting our physical appearance lets us concentrate on what we are to do. We work,we do every jaiz thing,WITH hijab on,and it doesn’t bother us at all. Instead we feel proud that our husband’s won’t feel ashamed of us that other men have already checked us out
well,we want same type of guys too though-hehehehe
If you think,ur women showing every single thing they have to millions of na-mehrum guys everyday makes your proud-then hmmmm ur twisted in the head just a kid.
But PHALEASE don’t tell us,wearing hijab is opression. Its modesty, civilisation and sophistication.Im proud to be a muslimah, and love covering myself.
Women who are open books, lose their selfrespect.
We are equal to men,but not identicle, and we understand that completly. Women who are having hard time understanding this, believe weraing hijaab is opression, but thats their problem, there is nothing wrong with Islam

According to my knowledge, a non-muslim woman is also considered a "na-mehram" for a muslim woman, means u cant expose yr body infront of them either.

No, I have never heard anything like this all my life. Women are nameharm no matter what their religion is. And you don't have to cover much in their presence.
